Final Fantasy VI
Chapter One: Reunited

Three years had passed since the destruction of Kefka. The planet's weary warriors had settled in for more normal lives. Terra returned to Mobliz to tend to the orphans there, accepting the name 'Mommy.' Sabin and Edgar had taken their rightful places as the Twin Kings of Figaro, both ruling wisely. Cyan became the General of the Figaro Castle Army and the war advisor to Sabin and Edgar. Setzer and Umaro had set up a deal with the Coliseum's manager, improving the Coliseum and turning it into a combat arena/casino, with Umaro being the champion of the combats, and Setzer as the champion of the cards. Mog and Locke had teamed up, traveling the world together, searching for treasure and other Moogles who may have survived the Cataclysm. Relm, Interceptor, and Strago returned to Thamasa, Relm having made quite a reputation as a painter. Gau returned to the Veldt, disappearing in its wild, untamed lands. Gogo returned to the Zone Eater's stomach. Celes disappeared, as did Shadow, the two of them never seen or heard by anyone ever again.....

"Hey,(puff, pant, gasp) Mog, wait up!" Locke called to his furry white friend.
Mog jumped up to a nearby boulder, turned to Locke, and looked at him. "Kupo! Okay, Locke, I'll wait," the Moogle called back.
The two adventurers had climbed up Star Mountain, determined to take another peek inside the Phoenix Cave. Locke had raided the place three years ago, taking all of the treasure there, including the Phoenix Magicite, but Locke believed that there were still more chambers within the Cave that he had not discovered. Mog agreed to go because Moogles liked caves, mines, and underground tunnels. He really had no desire to search out treasure.
The two adventurers tied a long, sturdy rope to a boulder, threw the length of the rope into the pit below them, and began the descent down to the landing, where a cave opened up. Locke, the more agile of the two, went down first, practically running down the rope to the landing. Mog came next, working his short legs and arms as best as he could. Eventually the two adventurers were at the landing, Locke extending a torch inside the cave, illuminating the first chamber. The two adventurers entered, remembering the crazy times they had with the other warriors, fighting Kefka and searching for one another after the Cataclysm.
Mog began knocking against the walls, listening intently for an echo from behind the wall; a sure sign that the wall had a room behind it. After Locke and Mog searched more chambers, Locke stumbled across a wall that had an echoing sound whenever he tapped it with the torch. He continued to tap it, listening to the echo.
"This one's a secret door," Locke said confidently, "but, how are we going to open it?"
Mog was one step ahead of his agile friend. The Moogle began dancing a little ditty that he had learned in the mines of Narshe: the Duck Requiem. Mog began to pick up the pace of his dance, moving faster and faster. The wall began to shake and tremble, pieces of it breaking off and hitting the ground.
"Dusk Requiem!! CAVE IN!!!" the Moogle yelled, stopping his dance all of a sudden, the wall exploding into a billion rock chips when Mog stopped his dance. The two adventurers noticed that there was indeed a room behind the now destroyed wall, a very large room, with several treasure chests in it....and two strange, shadowy figures. One of them was slender, strong, and walked with a warrior's gait...and it was obviously very feminine. The other figure was darker, more elusive than its feminine counterpart. This one was slender, but not as slender as the female shadow, a bit more muscular, and broader about the shoulders. The two figures took up battle stances, the familiar glint of steel in their hands.
Locke, never one to forget a woman, recognized the female shadow immediately.
"CELES!?!?" he cried.
"Locke, is that you?" a feminine voice asked in response.
Locke stuck his torch in front of him, illuminating the no-longer-secret chamber. Celes was there, as was a darker figure, a cache of treasure chests, and a doorway near the rear of the room.
Celes didn't look much different from when Locke last saw her three years ago; she still wore her blonde hair long and loose, wore a blue tiara, and still wore her white mantle. However, her face and clothes were caked with dust from when Mog used his dance to open the secret door. The dark figure stepped into the light, revealing himself; it was Shadow, alive and well.
"Shadow, I thought we lost you those years ago," Locke whispered.
"Sorry, I don't die easily," Shadow rasped in response, "Hello, Mog."
"Hi guys!" Mog said cheerfully.
"So, what have you guys been doing for the past three years?" Locke asked, moving over to one of the chests, taking out a set of lockpicks.

Celes explained that after Kefka had been destroyed, she wandered for a while, searching for....something. Shadow, battered and wounded, had the chance encounter of meeting her a year after Kefka had been killed. She patched up his wounds, but left his mask on, respecting his privacy. The two of them became mercenaries and bounty hunters. Shadow, despite his choice of having no allegiance with anyone, had many connections, so the two of them always had a job lined up. Their current job was to find a piece of a sword. A jeweled hilt, from some blade called 'Chaos'. After Shadow had done some research with his connections, the two of them found out that Chaos was a very destructive weapon created during the Esper Wars. Chaos had never been used, its destructive power so great, that its creators immediately broke it apart after forging it.
There were three pieces; the jeweled hilt, crystal blade, and moonstone pommel. Celes's and Shadow's employers wanted to get the three pieces so that they could, what else, conquer the world. As it turned out, Emperor Ghestal had a grandson, who was a leading general in the Empire when it was in its zenith. Their employer was Reeken, the Emperor's grandson. He wanted to create a new Empire. A new world. He wanted power. The Espers were dead and gone, but the weapons used in the Esper Wars still existed. He wanted Chaos.

"Whoa, that's a pretty wicked story," Mog said to Celes when she finished her story.
"The bad news is, Reeken has more bounty hunters than us working for him. According to Shadow's connections, Reeken already has the crystal blade. Shadow and I intend to get the moonstone pommel before anyone else does. We plan to destroy the pieces when we get them. However, there is a bit of Esper magic within each piece, making them very valuable even when the sword is separated. They work just like Magicite, only faster and stronger. We need to get the moonstone pommel so we can get more magical power. The more magic we have, the better chance we have of destroying these pieces." Celes told her friends.
"You know, we should go and get the others, they will help us! Sabin, Edgar, Cyan, Gau, Terra, Setzer, Umaro, Gogo, Strago, Interceptor, and Relm!" Mog piped in excitedly.
"That's a good idea, Mog. This Reeken guy has one of the pieces, so he can cast magic as well if he learns how to activate it. We could use the other's help on this one." Locke said, unlocking his twentieth chest.
"Wow, with all this gold that's in the chests, we could live rich for the rest of our lives," Celes said, admiring the gold in the chests.
"We could use this place as a base of operations and a storage place for any excess equipment we might have," Shadow suggested, thinking ahead.
"Good idea. Now, let's go find the others," Locke said.
"I'll get Umaro, Setzer, and Terra." Celes offered.
"I'll find Gau, Cyan, Sabin, and Edgar," said Mog.
"I will locate Strago, Relm, and my dog," Shadow rasped.
"Fine, I'll find Gogo," Locke finished.

A week later, Celes, Shadow, and Mog had brought their groups to the secret chamber in the Phoenix Cave, but Locke was still wandering about inside the Zone Eater's stomach, searching for Gogo. Celes, in spite of herself, was worried about Locke....

"Whoa, its the collapsing ceiling room," Locke muttered to himself, remembering the last time he was in this part of the Zone Eater. The chamber had no monsters at all in it, but that wasn't much of a comfort. The ceiling would fall to the ground every once few seconds, crushing anything under it. Only a few spots were open so that a person could crouch in the open space and have the ceiling fall around him, rather than on top of him. Locke moved as fast as he could to these rare and few spots. He made it to one of the spots near an open treasure chest, a chest he and his friends had looted years ago. The ceiling fell around him with a resounding SMASH!!! The ceiling began its ascent back up to its proper position, high above Locke's head. He had only a few second, maybe a minute, before that blasted ceiling came down again.
"Okay, here goes," Locke mumbled, sprinting for the next open area, near yet another treasure chest that had been looted by Locke and his buddies. The ceiling began its decent before Locke got to the chest. Realizing his predicament, Locke dove toward the treasure chest and the open area. He made it to the spot, but just barely; the leggings of his pants had been clipped by the ceiling as it struck the ground, shredding his pants. Locke ripped off the ruined leggings, turning his pants into shorts, figuring that he could probably run faster without shredded clothes messing up his running. The ceiling came up. Locke sprinted for the exit. The ceiling came down with a SMASH, but Locke had already made it out of the room, via the large opening in the chamber.
A simple maze was all that remained before he got to Gogo. After finishing the maze, he came into a large chamber. A raised dais was in the center of the chamber. Locke climbed up the ladder next to the dais, and saw that Gogo was sitting right in the middle of the dais, watching him, as if he was waiting for him to arrive.
"Hello, Locke," Gogo whispered.
"Hi, Gogo!" Locke said loudly.
"What is it that you need? Coming to find me is no easy task, and I doubt you braved the dangers of the Zone Eater's belly merely to say hello," Gogo said.
"Its a long story, Gogo," Locke replied.
"Then sit down and tell me, we have plenty of time," the Master (Mistress?) of Mimics replied.
Locke complied, sitting on the dais in front of Gogo, and began telling his friend what Celes told him.....
