"Time for more tests," a gruff voice said to the two men in the twin tubes.
*No.....* the blond man thought.
"Injecting more Jenova cells," the gruff voice continued.
*No!*
"Energy rating going up; injecting more Jenova cells into Project C,"
*NO! STOP! NO!!!*
"Hmmm. Let's try adding a 50% increase of Jenova cells into Project Z,"
*STOP!!! YOUR KILLING HIM!!!!*
"Increasing to 60%,"
*ZA--------

"------CK!!!!!!" Cloud shot up form his bed, drenched in sweat. Cloud trembled violently as he recalled his time in the Shinra Mansion. He recalled his only friend when he was in service in the Shinra army: Zack. SOLDIER Officer, First Class.
"Zack...." Cloud got up from his bed, walked over to the nearby sink, and began splashing cold water over his face. He had been dreaming about many things in the year that had passed since the destruction of Sephiroth and Meteor. He dreamt about Sephiroth, his battle with the madman, Tifa, Aeris, Jenova, Meteor, and, most importantly, Project Z....Zack. He knew him, trusted him, called him his friend. Yet, he couldn't save him when Shinra's men had attack them. Zack saved him from a fate worse than death...and he couldn't repay the favor.

It had been one year since they had stopped Meteor and Sephiroth, and life had returned to normal for the battered heroes: Nanaki had returned to Cosmo Canyon, Yuffie went back to Wutai, Cid reconstructed his damaged airship, Reeve was now Shinra's CEO and President, Barret had returned to North Corel to reopen the coal mines (since almost all the Mako/Lifestream on the Planet had been used up by Aeris to stop Meteor), Vincent went into the Nibelhiem Mountains to live the life of a hermit, Tifa went to Midgar to help rebuild Sector 7, and as for Cloud....he simply disappeared, which worried everyone, especially Tifa.

Tifa was leaning against the railing of the newly reconstructed Seventh Heaven Bar. Fifty percent of Sector Seven had been rebuilt, and people started coming into her now-famous bar, netting a steady income for Tifa. The war-weary woman didn't really care much for the money; the man she loved was missing, gone for about a year now. Her last encounter with Cloud was when they were all in the Crater. Against that madman, Sephiroth. Cloud abruptly left after Sephiroth was defeated. They never saw Cloud again.

"First Zack, then Aeris," Cloud whispered into the wind, "how many must die because of me?" The young man began reflecting on his muddled past, treading on dangerous lines of thought; would have's and could have's continued to berate him, bringing him back to the breaking point of his sanity, but he found he couldn't ignore those nagging questions.
Then he heard it, that laugh. Sephiroth. Cloud quickly looked around, but didn't see anyone; he only heard that mocking laughter.

"Nice day for flying!" Cid commented, looking through the Highwind's main windshield. He saw the plains loom before him, then, in an instant, he saw ocean below their craft. Cid loved the feel of the wind in his face. For the first time in years, Cid was content; he had everything he ever wanted: his own large-scale airship, a good crew, and he got to travel in outer space.
"Hey, what the hell is that!!!" Cid yelled, pointing to a blue-black form in the ocean, skimming the surface of the water. It couldn't be......
"Get Reeve and the others on the PHS!! NOW!!!!" Cid yelled at the nearest crew member. *This is NOT good,* Cid thought, *If Sapphire WEAPON is back....then so are the other WEAPONs.... But, who brought them back?*

Reeve picked up the phone when it started ringing. "Hello, Reeve speaking. Oh, hi, Cid. Nice of you to call---WHAT!!!! A WEAPON?? SAPPHIRE!!!??? That's not possible!! The Junon Cannon killed it!! I'll round up the others!"

In less than an hour, the entire group (without Cloud) were standing on the bridge of the Highwind.
"Sapphire's back...." Tifa mumbled.
"There it is!" Cid exclaimed.
"Wait, that's not Sapphire! That's a totally different WEAPON!! It just has Sapphire's colors!" Reeve said, standing next to his Cait Sith robot.
"My god, that thing's huge!" Nanaki whispered, watching in awe as this new WEAPON stood up to its full 1000 foot height.
"Uh, Tifa, you still got the Knights of the Round Table materia, right?" Barret asked.
Tifa reached into her pocket. "Yep, right here," she showed everyone the little red materia in her hand.
"Now would be a good time to use it!!" Yuffie said, pointing at the WEAPON. It was opening its chest, revealing an armory of cannons; cannons aimed at them.
"ULTIMATE END!!" Tifa yelled, raising the materia above her head. In a flash, the 12 Knights and their King ripped into the new WEAPON. The mysterious WEAPON quickly dived back under water, fearing destruction.
"Quick! We gotta get to Junon! We need to get the submarine!" Reeve yelled.

*Cloud.....* a voice said in Cloud's head, *Kill me....*
"Who are you?" Cloud yelled.
*I am.....* the voice trailed off, and Cloud had the feeling he knew that voice.
"Zack?"
