Freeway (Marcus Hummon and the Daughters): "This song was inspired by my Mom," explains ShaunaRae. "She represents those free-spirited souls in the world whom we all admire for having the courage to simply move onto the next adventure in times of change."
FREEWAY 4:10
A. Kelman/J. Leiske/SR Samgrad
Stubble Jumper Music (SOCAN)
Caught a glimpse of the freeway this mornin'
And it sure looked good to her
Saw it all in her rear view mirror
Yesterday's a blur
It's gone
She slams the door
She cranks the key
Radio blarin'
Gotta be a little R & B
She's gone
CHORUS
She's free with her soul
She's free with her money
She's free with her love
She's got so much of it
She's free with her time
She gives it to a stranger
She's gone
She's on her own freeway
There was a man in Indianna
He tried to give her love
He had cash, a house in the burbs
And a heart of gold
But it was not what she was dreamin' of
Just not enough
She needs stimulation
Not limitation
Now she's cruisin' cross the nation
In a champagne Coupe de Ville - and she will
CHORUS repeat

Blue Horizon (Stan Meissner and the Daughters): "Many of the writing sessions for the album took place at the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver," says Angela. "This song was written on a particularly stressful day. Sometimes when life gets a little hectic you just have to create a place in the horizon you can sail away to."

This Is The Life(The Lois and Eddy Song) (Stan Meissner and the Daughters): "Meeting Lois, the catering lady who burst into our dressing room laughing about her tequila headache, was one of our favourite moments of 1998," laughs Jake. "Every once in awhile you meet an amazing person whose sincerity just touches your soul."

It's Easy To Tell (Kostas and the Daughters): "Kostas is by far the most colourful, kooky, entertaining, talented, precarious Greek guy we know," smiles ShaunaRae. "This is just a straight-forward, good-feeling, radio-friendly country tune that has great sentiment. We wrote that song after Jake spilled red wine and coffee on his beautiful white carpet. Absolutely nothing phases him."

No Understanding Your Love (Simone Hardy/Stewart Peters): "We consider this song to be a beautiful gift from our producer, Marc Ramaer, who instinctively knew, even before meeting us, that this song would beautifully complete album," Angela explains.

Ballad of Me and You (Marcus Hummon and the Daughters): "Marcus Hummon is a poetic, musical genius," says Jake. "This song could quite possibly be one of my favourite all-time songs. It has the sentiment of someone being so truly, completely in love and in awe of the person they have chosen to make a commitment to. Natalie MacMaster makes it even more special."
BALLAD OF ME AND YOU 4:08
Marcus Hummon/A. Kelman/J. Leiske/SR Samgrad
Stubble Jumper Music (SOCAN)
Tonight my whole life is in front of me
All dreams, all possibilities
So why don't you come to me, dance with me
sing me our own sweet tune
The Ballad of Me and You
What worlds, what miracles will we see
What hopes will transcend reality
So why don't you stay with me, cling to me
Lay with me the whole night through.
The Ballad of Me and You
CHORUS
Oh here we go, down untravelled roads
Safe in your arms, never alone
Led by the grace of heavenly stars
Too soon to fear, with unbroken, unbroken hearts
BRIDGE CHORUS REPEAT
Tonight our whole life is meant to be
All dreams, all possibilities
So why don't you come to me, dance with me,
sing me our own sweet tune
The Ballad of Me and You

Let It Ride (Randy Bachman/C. F. Turner): "Jake and Angela both still have their K-Tel Canadian Mint albums that include this classic," explains ShaunaRae. "When Bachman generously agreed to lay down the original guitar solo on our version, Jake was overwhelmed to tears while Angela just giggled nervously."
LET IT RIDE
Randy Bachman/C.F. Turner
(SOCAN)
Goodbye - I lied - don't cry
Would you let it ride
You can't see the mornin'
But I can see the light
Try, try, try to let it ride
While you've been out runnin'
I've been waiting half the night
Try, try try, to let it ride
CHORUS
And would you cry if I told you that I lied
Then would you say good-bye, Or would you let it ride. Repeat
Seems my life is not complete, I never see you smile
Try, Try, Try, let it ride,
Baby you want the forgiving kind, And that's just not my style,
Try, try, try to let it ride.
And would you cry if I told you that I lied
Then would you say good-bye, Or would you let it ride. Repeat X4
I've been doin' things worthwhile and you've been bookin' time
Try, try, try to let it ride.

Prairie Sky (Chris Pelcer and the Daughters): "Prairie Sky paints childhood memories for us because we all hail from the prairies," says Angela. "It's like flipping through a mental snapshot photo album for us. Every single time we make that summer trip across the prairies on our bus we get so overwhelmed by the colours and vast openness. All of those things make us so incredibly melancholy."
PRAIRIE SKY
Chris Pelcer/A. Kelman/J. Leiske/SR Samgrad
Stubble Jumper Music (SOCAN)
First chill is in the air
Can't see enough of the sky from here
Reverie is callin' me
And I gotta get back to where I can breathe
I need a road don't need a map
Should have never said I'd never be comin' back
The same wind that blew me this way
Is tellin' me I've gotta go
CHORUS
Take a drive, take a drive
There's nothin' longer than a prairie mile
For the rest of my life
Nothin' can move me like the prairie sky
Back to the memoreis that will never die
Back to the memrories of a prairie child
Lost church on a lone highway
I recognize all the signs of yesterday
Small town seems smaller now
But it always feels like home
CHORUS repeat
Fields of periwinkle flowers
Lit by harvest moon
Fiery sunsets-thunder showers
Summer ends too soon
Smokin' reeds down by the lake
Playin' hide and seek in the bales of hay
Can't believe how long it's been
Bein' here makes me feel like a kid again
CHORUS repeat

Overwhelming Sense of Good-bye (Stan Meissner and the Daughters): "This was written on a good-bye day and is directly related to our lives because of the amount of travelling we do," ShaunaRae explains. "It describes that sick, sinking feeling you have when you know that a relationship or the time you're spending with someone you love will quickly come to an end. It's a real tough one to get through."

Wait for Me (Chris Rodriguez and the Daughters): "This was written in an abandoned house on Music Row in
Nashville," explains Jake. "We wrote it from the standpoint of a hotel room at the end of the day, wondering to yourself if your significant other is ever going to get tired of this ridiculous lifestyle you live.

Little Church in Memphis (Kostas and the Daughters): "It was 5:00 a.m. one Sunday in February when we set off from Nashville to Memphis in hopes of finding some gospel and the King," says Jake. "We found ourselves in the church belonging to Reverend Al Greene, who left the entertainment business years ago. He preached and sang for three hours from behind, beside and on top of the pulpit. Seeing how moved his congregation was, it was the experience of a lifetime."
LITTLE CHURCH IN MEMPHIS
Kostas/A. Kelman/J. Leiske/SR Samgrad
Stubble Jumper Music (SOCAN)
There's a little church in Memphis
Down a country road
Half a mile from Graceland where the faithful go
The Reverend's at the altar, his arms are open wide
And he's callin' out to Jesus to save the souls inside
And the choir sings "Hallelujah" and the band follows along
And there's fire in the spirit and brimstone in the song
CHORUS
Come on children, children get on board
Ridin' on the glory train - goin't to see the Lord
Let's stay together, the river Jordans deep and wide
Love and happiness on the other side
And the sistahs with their hands up ???
Swayin' to and 'fro
There was power in the moment there was
Kneelin' on the floor
And I wintessed sweet surrender as I listened to the call
From the Reverend at the altar with gold records on the wall
As the choir sant "Hallelujah", and the band followed along
There was fire in the spirit and brimstone in the song
CHORUS repeat

Willie (Amos Gypson): "This was one of the first songs we incorporated into our live show and, without a doubt, has become one of our most requested songs," Angela explains. "The message is so simple but has the ability to draw people in because it talks about a man dying alone. We've seen grown men wiping tears off their faces."
