Some said it was bound to fail and others were all for it (myself included). They were dubbed as the 'British Mavericks' and on January 2nd to a sell out crowd at Great Birchwood they played their first gig together. They knew it was an expensive step to take but they knew it was worth it espicially for us the fans. They also wanted to prove all the critics wrong that they didn't mim or just play to backing tapes. The new group were excellent (understatement of the year or what) there performance on stage was brill everyone was always enjoying themselves. All the new members were of the highest quality to the Cheap Seats sound even more special. Unfortunatly in around June 99 the decision was made to split up. The reasons for this were explained to us the fans on the 5th of July in a statement Ethan put on the Cheap Seats website. One reason they had to split up was because they were broke the eight piece group was expensive and venues were not booking them. On the 4th of July 1999 at Blackpool Pontins to another sell out crowd the final Cheap Seats gig was played.
So what now well Ethan is setting up his own band The Ethan Allen Band and his own web site with loads of pictures of him. See links.
John well I am not sure Sorry I think he is doing some producing and maybe a couple of gigs.
