Video conferencing on your DC?
Reports from Japan seem to
think so. Read on for more info.
June 04, 1999
In a report early this Monday, the weekly
edition of Nikkei News shed some light on
several interesting tidbits with regards to
Sega's upcoming network plans. Included in the release were details on
the number of server spot (which will total over 200 here in the states),
as well as some new info that we here at IGN DC find quite intriguing.
Apparently, Sega will be releasing both microphone peripheral (which
was displayed with the ever-loveable Seaman at E3) and some sort of
digital camera attachment, which together will allow DC users to engage
in both video and voice based chat sessions with other Dreamcast users.
Couple this announcement with earlier news of a score of multi-player
board and card games, and you can see why the DC will be much more
than an typical gaming console. Expect more details on Sega's
ground-breaking plans in the coming weeks.
