The dust has settled, the smoke has
cleared, and members of the industry have
slowly started to come out of their
post-show comas. So what more can we
here at IGNDC do but bring you our
thoughts on what, for Sega, was easily the
greatest E3 in the company's rocky
history? Perhaps catch some ZZZs of our
own, but what good would that do you, the
info-starved gamer? Why none, of course. So, here I am, trying my
damnedest to slap down all the info you can hope to handle on the official
coming-out party from the Dreamcast.
And what a party it was. Despite what you may have heard from industry
'yes men' at other sites, Sega used this year's Electronic Entertainment
Expo as opening act for what is sure to be the Year of the Dreamcast. In
nearly every way imaginable, it completely dominated the show. Sega's
booth was constantly flooded with eager gamers, and Sega was more
than up to the challenge with a host of impressive titles and the promise of
even more to come.
Even more important were both crucial announcements with regards to
the future of Sega's Internet strategy and third party support that beckons
to the days of the mighty Genesis. I'll start by giving my thoughts on the
Sega pre-E3 briefing, at which Sega COO Bernie Stolar announced
what could very be the catalyst in the success of what many are calling
