Just logged on to the Anglo Indian Site and was indeed saddened to hear of the demise of Joan. I only met Joan briefly at the time of your wedding but found her to be shy, quiet and warm. The 40 years you spent together were surely wonderful and fulfilling. It would seem that she was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. I loved Warren's tribute to her birthday in which he mentioned she would always cook yellow rice, chicken curry and a colourful salad. My children love my pilau, chicken curry and parathas. They do not enjoy the Indian sweets (which we purchase from the Indian shop) as they find them too sweet and have not acquired a taste for rose water and ghee. Last week I sent you and Joan a christmas card which I am sure you will receive upon your return to India from the UK. They say "time heals" but I do not agree with this especially on memorable days (like birthdays, anniversaries, christmas/new years) when all one's fondest memories of their loved
