WANTED: TENANT ORGANIZERS!
There is a housing crisis in Toronto
The vacancy rate is below one per cent,rent controls have been relaxed, no new housing is being built, people have to pay high rents even though no maintenance is being done, buildings are sitting empty,mothers and children are being denied housing by landlords, homelessness is at an all-time high, people are dying on the street.
Politicians and agencies are unable or unwilling to find a solution
Tenant organizing - rent strikes, protest, eviction prevention, tenant associations - is part of the solution, not more studies and rhetoric. Tenants and homeless people must organize themselves, not wait on the government and government-funded agencies to find a solution.
Want to be part of the housing revolution?
A group of volunteer tenant organizers from across Toronto has formed to hold meetings,protests against government "de-housing" policies,starttenant associations in run-down Buildings,prevent evictions through direct actions, and make affordable housing an issue in the provincial election.
