| Name that Boy Band: What’s the background on how the Backstreet Boys got their name? Well when the guys used to cruze for chicks in their Florida hometown they when to a local hangout called the Backstreet Market. To decode ‘Nsync’s label, take the last letter in each of their names: Justin, Chris, Joey, Lance, and JC. (o.k. so they used Lance’s nickname Lansten – hey they needed an N!) The new kip-hop group L.F.O. (Lyte Funkie Ones) have singer Rich Nice to thank for their quirky title. Growing up rappin’ his funny lyrics apparently wasn’t very manly. “People in school teased me by calling me the light funky one.” He says. L.F.O.’s other singers helped spice up the spelling to make it Lyte Funkie Ones. It seems the full-length version of L.F.O. can be a tongue twister: A CNN interviewer mistakenly called them the “Lyte Fluffy Ones.” Unless they want to sound like fabric softener they should probably stick to initials. |
