Dating Troubles No More--Get Your Dream Guy
Starting in junior high, everything and everyone look different. By the time you hit high school, you've got your eye on a particular cutie in class. How do you make the first move?
Chat up a Storm
Don't fool yourself into thinking that just because the guy you like is really cute, or a jock or really smart that they won't be interested in you. Instead, get aggressive and take the offensive--start talking to this cutie! There really is no way he can ask you out if the two of you don't even talk. Ask him if he'd like to join a club you're in, or work on a project with you. Try and talk to him as you would any other guy--like a friend.
Don't be Jealous
Mothers may say that the way to man's heart is through his stomach, but don't buy that. You certainly don't need to be a perfect housewife to impress him. Don't put on airs, act like a giggly doofus or dress too provocatively just to attract his attention. You're sending all the wrong signals that way. Also, don't snarl at every girl who tries to talk to him or is his friend--you'll alienate him for sure.
The Big Move
Once you guys are friends, it's time to make your move. If you're nervous about asking him straight up to go out with you, invite him to the movies with you and your friends. Throw a party, have a potluck dinner or go out with some friends for coffee. After that, you can invite him over to listen to some CDs, watch TV or play some basketball. Once you've gotten up your nerve, ask Mr. Cutie if he'd like to have dinner with you sometime, or go ice-skating---whatever you want. If he says no, don't lose heart. Try again in a couple of weeks--he may be busy, or uncomfortable with starting so quickly with you.
