Get Rid of Unwanted Hair
Shaving versus Waxing, The Pros and Cons
Shaving...
Using razors offer a painless though temporary way to get rid of hair.
Use it...
on large areas like your legs and sensitive spots like your underarms. Keep away from your face and arm (embarrassing stubble will grow back, fast!)
Good things to know...
(1) When shaving in the shower use warmer water than usual. The water vapor will help open pores allowing the razor to get a closer cut.
(2) Use shaving cream and water. This softens the hair for a closer shave and protects you from annoying and painful cuts. Apply the creme and lather for a few minutes.
(3) Pick the best razor. Paying a little more for razors that are made for sensitive skin types will be worth it in the long run. Itll save you a lot of pain and embarrassment.
(4) Shave in the direction opposite to your hair growth for the closest shave. If you have extremely sensitive skin, shave in the direction of the hair growth.
Waxing
Waxing annoying hair will leave your skin hairless for weeks. Warning: it does hurt!
Use it...
on smaller areas like your bikini line and forearms.
Good things to know...
(1) Your hair has to be at least 3/8" long before the wax can be effectively used.
(2) Follow directions. This will be valuable to minimize pain and maximize the results.
(3) Skip caffeine for a few ours prewaxing. Caffeine has been proven to make your skin more sensitive.
(4) Strip fast. The faster you pull, the more hair and less pain youll experience. Remember to pull in the opposite direction of hair growth, and hold the skin taut.
(5) After waxing immediately press the area with fingers to avoid post-rip stings.
(6) To remove excess wax from the area dab a little olive oil and use a cotton ball.
