How To Get Over Summer Flings
Summer is always great. A break from school, less responsibility, more free time, and a chance to try something new! Summer flings go hand-in-hand with the endless summer nights. But all things must come to an end and coping with the change isn't always easy.
Don't get attached.
Sometimes people do weird things in different circumstances. If you've partied with a guy the whole summer and find out that he ignores you during the school year don't take it personally. Hey, sometimes guys can be jerks...just learn how to move on. If he says he'll call and he doesn't the relationship isn't worth pursuing. Instead, spend more time with your own friends and involve yourself in other activities. Summer is always fun, but an education will give you the foundation you need to be successful later in life.
Long distance relationships.
Whether he lives an hour away or some place in Siberia, long distance relationships can be too much to handle. This is especially true when you have to focus back on your own "reality" which usually includes school and family. Keep yourself busy and your mind occupied so you don't find yourself spending hours reminiscing about the past. If you feel the relationship is worth it, keep in touch...emails, letters, a few phone calls will keep you guys updated on each others going-ons. Everything happens for a reason! If you two were meant to be together you will find each other someday!
Pursuing that summer fling.
Not all flings have to come to an end with the hot weather. If you've found a great person and enjoy spending time with him, stay involved in the relationship. Understand that you may not be able to spend as much time together as you were used to, but if you spend quality time together everything will work out. You will learn to prioritize in a good relationship!
