beauty tip sheet: foundation secrets
For the most natural look, foundation should precisely match your skin tone.
When testing colours, apply stripes along the jawline.
The right one will virtually disappear into your skin.
For maximum coverage with a non-makeup look, apply foundation with a sponge, then use circular motions to massage it into the skin with your fingers.
To make foundation really last (even on oily skin), always apply a moisturizer first.
If you don't and you have dry skin, your skin may mistake the foundation for moisturizer and soak it up.
To avoid foundation 'sweating' on long days, in the morning, set your foundation with loose powder, using a puff, and touch up with pressed powder and a brush whenever needed.
To cover up imperfections, apply foundation first, then go back and stipple (dot on) a concealer that neutralizes red - something with a green or yellow tone.

Don't over-powder problem areas - the spot will get cakey and attract the eye.
Only use enough to set the concealer.
To avoid a definite foundation line on the jawline or neck, apply foundation on your face as usual, then add a little moisturizer to the residual foundation in your hand and blend it down your neck to give a gradual fade.
For a glow for evening, mix a bit of a finely ground shimmer powder in with your foundation and place it where you want to attract light: the bridge of the nose, underneath and above the browbone, the temples, the cheekbones, the chin and shoulders.
