2. Let's say that you were to die today and you stood face to face with God. Then, He asked you a simple question. "Why should I let you into My heavens?" What would you say?
Maybe, "Well, I've been good all my life and I went to church." or "I've kept all of the Commandments and I try to do good deeds."

Well, I would like to start by saying that I've made the discovery of knowing if I have eternal life or not. What is that discovery?

Well, the Bible tells us in 1John 5:13 " It is written that ye shall know that ye has eternal life...."

That's right! YOU CAN KNOW FOR SURE THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE!!!
Here's how:

Heaven is a FREE gift. It is not earned or deserved. We cannot buy our way into heaven.

We are sinners and we cannot save ourselves. That means that we can't give our selves the gift of eternal life.

But don't be discouraged!!! There is God! He is merciful and He doesn't want to punish you. He is , though, a just God and He must punish sin. You heard right! He doesn't want to punish YOU, just the sin.

Still, don't be discouraged!!!! God made a way for us to get out of sin!!! He sent Jesus Christ, the infinite God-man to this earth to live a perfect life and die a painful death on the cross for YOU AND ME to forgive us for our sins and set aside a place for us in Heaven!!!!

You must have faith in Jesus Christ ALONE for eternal life. Not the kind of faith that you have that God will help you through a math test and once it's over forget about it. It's trusting in Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord!!! Let's just put it this way. Imagine a throne in your heart. Is the King of Kings sitting on it? Do you have Jesus in your heart? Here's a story that may help:

Once there was a lonely beggar in a desert. He saw a caravan in the distance and ran towards it. He saw that a King was travelling with the caravan. He ran up to were the King was and reached his hand up towards the King. What would the King give this old, poor beggar? What would the King even want to do with this beggar? Well, the beggar reached up his hand and to his surprise, the King reached back down and gave the beggar a gift.
That's how we are with God. We must reach up to Him for that gift of eternal life. I once was that beggar. And so are you. Are you reaching?
It's like if I held a present in my hand and said, "Here, this is a gift for you." I can hold the present out to you, but until you take it, it's not yours. Jesus is holding out His life for you. He is holding out His present. It's completely free and He wants you to take it!

Okay, now, one more little demonstration, take a book that is near you. Any kind. Now open it up. Let's say that the inside cover is your birth certificate and the back cover is your death certificate and all the pages in between is your life. I know that I would have a large book because of all my sins. Everyone would. When Jesus sees me, that book of sins is in the way for our relationship to grow. God saw the problem that the book created and so He sent His Son Jesus to die for me and you. Jesus then took that book to the cross and the grave with Him and that book stayed at the grave while Jesus rose into Heaven. Now God can look upon me and see me! Thanks to Jesus, we can now have eternal life with our Father!!!!!

Have you ever thought about the questions that I asked above? How would you answer them. If you would like to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you can do that NOW! Pray to receive Him into your heart. Ask Him to forgive you for your sins. They will be cleansed by His blood!!! They will be gone forever! The only way to have this eternal life is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. It is the ONLY way to Heaven. Not by deeds, but by the faith in Jesus!
