Operation Open Records has been developed to unite the Adoption Community and all members of the Adoption Triad in hopes to accomplish passing laws that will allow us the information we have so long been kept from. Sealed is no longer a word that we can accept. One Triad member alone can not change things, it will take an entire army of us to do so. Operation Open Records is based on Project Mail It In. The theroy was derived from the mass amount of mail that is handled through the post office each day. Most mail boxes get an average of 2 to 5 letters per day. On the first and third of each month these numbers increase drastically with the delivery of Social Security, SSI, and State Benifits. These two days are carefully watched after due to the increase in mail. Postmen can really be some of the more helpful people. Now according to sources in the Mississippi State Goverment Offices, the senators get on average 20 to 30 letters a day, sometimes more, just depending on what is up for vote. Now just imagine those 30 turning into 300, 600, or even 1000 in one day. Now my postman nearly had a fit when I mailed 200 wedding invitations, that was 1 person sending 200. Now imagine 1000 going to one person. Would it draw any attention?

On each Monday by noon the name of the Mail In Target will be posted. With this name will be the address that the mail will need to be sent. All letters should be mailed by Wednesday of that week. This almost insures that they will receive it by Friday. You ask why not Monday, well, If they receive that much mail on Friday, they either have to take care of it before they get to start their weekend, or they have to walk into it on Monday.
The goal is for 5000 letters to go out each week until Our voices are heard and Records are opened. |

Tell your story, let your voice be heard. Honestly if you want just write Open Adoption Records or something to that effect is fine. I plan to send my story to all of them. I think it is time that they saw the world the way we see it each time we ask a question, walk into a doctors office, or look at the faces that pass us walking down the street. Each person in my home is sending a letter. My close friends too. You know you do not have to be a member of the Adoption Triad to be touched by adoption. |
