As you may have known, the gym leaders in gold and silver are the gym leaders in the Jolt League!
The Beginning
You are started by giving two options. The top is new game and one under is options. Pick the top one to start your mission.
You will see a line of dots then then some numbers. This is when you could set the time of day you a start with. This is not really necessary or important at all. Just click and choose what you want and then Professor Oak will appear. He will introduce himself and tell you what pokemon is. This is basically the same speech he gives in red/blue version. Then he will ask you your name. If you don't know Japanese, then it nothing. Just click anything a and go on.
You will then shrink in size and be in your room. Go and look at the poster on the wall. It is the map of all the towns. It will give you a little idea about the places you will be travelling through. Then go down the stairs and you will see your mom. She is asking you what time of the day it is. Just pick any option and leave the house.
When you leave your house, go to Professor Oak's labortory. Go left and up and you will the building. He will talk to you and then tell you to pick one of the three pokemon on the table beside him. There is Hinoarashi, the fire Pokemon. There is also Waninoko, the water pokemon. It looks like a dragon or a lizard of some sort. The leaf pokemon is the easiest to indentify. It has leave on it's back! It's name is Chirotiita. Pick the type you like and then leave. You are not challenged by any one to battle.
Continue west as you leave the lab. Your pokemon is started at level 5. You'll probably face some pokemon as you walk through the tall grass. Probably some pidgey's, rattata's, O-Tachi's and caterpie or weedle according to the color you playing.
It is not very difficult to find the way to the town. You will see some people along your way. They will not challenge you to a battle but talk to them. Remember always to talk to any you see. You cannot miss out on an important item they may give you. You will eventually see a Pokemon Center. It is "PC". Heal your pokemon and go east and beside the shop, you will see a path. Go to the path and continue north.
You will reach a house. There may be a house before the one I'm talking about but in the house, there is a guy and Professor Oak. He will give you a Pokedex. Then, when you leave the house, you will get a call on your cell phone. It is Utsugi and he is telling you that someone had stole one of his pokemon. Then he tell you to go back to his lab.
Go back to the lab. Reminder, you are about to face your rival once you leave step right of the Pokemon Center. Her pokemon will have the advantage against yours and hers is Level 5. If you have trained a little before this battle, you will probably win. Then continue back to the lab. Go into the lab and talk to him. Then leave. When you are about to leave, his assistant will give you 5 pokeballs for catching pokemon. There is a person who will teach you how to catch pokemon just west of your home town. If you already know, then don't bother. If you don't, pay attention because you will need to know. Then go back to the Pokemon Center.
Go back to the Path and head north of the house where you got the pokedex. It is where you probably saw the fighting trainers. They are no longer blocking the path of heading north. They will ask you to battle. Continue west until you reach the next city. On the way, you will see a cave. Just ignore that for now since you don't have the HM for flash or even the badge to use it. Catch some pokemon on the way. There is a shop where they sell more pokeballs. Just remember to symbols for a pokeball if you don't know Japanese.
Go north of the city and you will see a tall building. This building is the bellsprout's temple. There are trainers there who will fight you. When you get to the top, go and beat the leader. He will give you the HM for flash. It is easy to recognize because of its number 5. You will need to catch a bellsprout if you want your pokemon to have flash. You see a gym, dont you? Well now, you are ready for it. There are 2 trainers before the gym leader. They all use flying pokemon. They are just pidgeys and spearows so it shouldn't be a problem. If your pokemon are at least over Level 12. You are heading for victory.

First Gym to Second Gym:
When you leave the gym, you will get a call from Professor Utsugi. He is telling you to go get an egg at the pokemon center. So do so. You will see a man with glasses at the pokemon center. Leave a space in your 6 slots for it. After, go to a path on the west side of town and south until you see several caves. There is a woman in one of them. This is where to solve the Kabuto Puzzle. It is not very difficult. Solving this puzzle will awaken some of the pokemon. Then you will be dropped down to another cave. You will see Magnets of all different shapes. They are the same Pokemon. So catch one.
Go back on the path heading east until you see another path. Go south and fight all the trainers. There is a pokemon called An'Noon. Catch it if you like. When you get to a person who asks you for 100 yen, say yes. Then go to the Pokemon Center. There is a fisherman there who will give you a rod. Use the rod to catch a magikarp.
Then find a blocked cave. Then go to the house that is on the north west side of town. Talk to the man inside the house and he will unblock the cave for you. Go to the cave and fight all the Team Rockets and free the slowpoke. Now, you can fight the gym leader. She likes to use bug pokemon. She has a kakuna, metapod and Scyther. It is not very difficult to beat her. She will give you an insect badge if you win.

Second Gym to Third Gym
When you exit the gym, go west. Find the boy who lost his farfetch'd. You will see a farfetch'd somewhere near that place. Chase the bird until it goes right in front of its trainer. This boy will reward you will HM01 and you could teach cut to one of your pokemon. You will see a tree right above the trainer. Cut it down and go north. You will see one of those buildings that separates routes. Inside, talk to the girl with the butterfree and she will give you a TM.
Kept on going north. You will see a house with a pond in front. You could find a krabby in their pond. The people in the house could breed your pokemon. Go north and fight the trainers until you get to the town.
This town is large. Go find one of the houses with a staircase that goes to the basement. There are trainers to fight and you will see a little path to a blue door. It is locked right now but remember it. After you beat other gyms, you will have to come back and fight the Team rockets. When you finished fighting the trainers, go up the other staircase. You will be in another house. Go to the tall metal building and talk to the woman furthest on the right. She will ask you a couple of questions. You already know the top is "yes" and the bottom is "no". So answer yes, yes, yes,no,yes,no. She will give you a radio. Go up the stairs, and you will see a woman and a jigglypuff. Go to the left side of the room and you will see a person blocking the other staircase. It is not important that you get him out of the way right now, so forget about him. But DO remember, you will have to come back to this metal building later. There is a house on the bottom right of town. Talk to the person inside and you will get a bike. Go to the house right of the gym. There, you will see two girls. Talk to both of them. One of them will give you "Squirtle Water" You will need that later.
Now go inside the gym, fight all the trainers until you get to the gym leader. This gym uses normal type pokemon. The gym leader has a Clefable and a Mirutanku. It looks like a stupid cow but it not very easy to beat.

Third Gym to Fourth Gym
Go north of town and head for the garden. You will have to fight some trainers. Fight them and catch some wild pokemon. You will eventually come to a weird/strange looking tree. Use the "Squirtle Water" on it. It will come to life. Battle it and capture it. Now go north. Do not go east or you will be going back to the first gym. You will have to fight more trainers now. Continue heading north until you get to the next town.
You will find a building where people are performing on stage. Go on to the stage and challenge all the women. They have all 5 types of Eevee. There are 2 new ones. When you beat these woman, you get a lot of experience. Go to the tall building most north and left side of the town. You will face your rival there. Also, go down the black holes. You will see some cats and items. Get all the items you can and return to the gym.
This gym uses Ghost pokemon. The platform is invisible but not hard to find out. Simply go up then left or right to the next trainer and you will not fall off the platform. You will get to the gym leader. Defeat him to get the phantom badge.

Fourth Gym to Fifth Gym
Now that you won the 4th badge, go back to place where the women performed. Talk to the man inside and he will give you HM03 which is surf. Teach it to one of your pokemon and head west.
You will fight some trainers and see some new pokemon in the tall grass. Go west and then south until you get to another city. You will see a gym with no one in it. Go south and you will see a large body of water.
Surf in the water and head southeast. You will have to fight some trainers and they all use water pokemon, of course. Then you will reach an island. Heal your pokemon and fight the trainers in the gym. They all use fighting pokemon. Defeat the gym leader. When you get out of the gym, you will see a woman. Talk to her and she will give you HM04 which lets you use strength. Talk to the people on this island. One of them will give you the fly HM which is HM02.

Go back to the town with no people in the gym. Go east of the pokemon center and you will see a tall building. Fight and work your way to the top where you see a girl and her pokemon. Talk to her and she will disappear. She is the gym leader. Walk into the dark platforms and you will eventually get to the first floor where there is a woman. Get outta the building and go to the gym. There are no trainers in there but you will see the gym leader. The girl uses Electric and Steel pokemon. She has 2 magnemites and another strange looking pokemon. It is level 35. Her pokemon are a somehow difficult to beat.

Sixth Gym to Seventh Gym
Go back to the town where you fought for the phantom badge. Go east of the Shop and through the building that separates the routes and cities. You will see a body of water and a cave. Surf on the water and go east. You will get to the next town where the gym is blocked by someone. You have to get the gym open.
Go north of the town. You will have to fight some trainers. You will then see people, a house and a pond. Surf in the pond until you see a gyarados. This gyarados is golden. Fight it and capture it. Then get out of the water and you will see a man with a cape next to a sign. Talk to him and he will disappear. He has returned to the city below. So back to that city.
Go to the house north of the pokemon center. You will see the man with the cape once again. He will show you the secret staircase that leads to the Team Rocket's base. Fight all the Team Rockets, get items and go up the staircase. You will see the black cape man and he will heal your pokemon. Then fight all the rockets until you get to the top floor. Open the door to the room with the bird pokemon and fight the leader. After you beat the leader, go down the fight all the electrodes that are powering the building. You should capture one if you want.
Then go to the blocked gym. It will now be open. This gym uses ice pokemon and it is not hard to beat. You will slide on the ice to fight different trainer. They are female skiers or male snowboarders. Slide on the ice to different places until you get in front of the gym leader. Fight him and he will give you a TM and a badge.

Seventh Gym to Eighth Gym
When you leave the Seventh Gym, you need to go east. Bring a pokemon with strength. If you remembered before, there was a man asking you for 300 yen and he wouldn't let you go through. Now, he is gone. Go east from the north of the pokemon center. You will see that special tree and some trainers. There are also some ponds where you could go fishing. Fight all the trainers and kept on heading east. You will see a cave. It is the ice cave.
The ground of this ice cave works just like the one you faced in the seventh gym and I doubt you will like it. You are faced with an ice ground will around 10 rocks. This way to get out of there: 1, place yourself north of the top rock on the right hand side. 2, Slide all the way left. You should be on the higher rock of the two. 3, Go Down, right and down. 4, then go one step right and move up. Finally, slide right all the way to the ground.
You will see another ice ground with 4 rocks. On the other side of these ice, there is HM07. Remember to get it! The maze is not really hard so I dont have to explain how to get to the ball. After you got HM07, go to ladder leading you down. Go down and you will see boulders. Push one boulder down each one of the black holes. Then fall into any of the holes. You are on an ice rink! You will see a pokeball and another ladder. That is your destination. Start from the far top right boulder. Go down, left and up and then right. You will get to the ground with the pokeball and the ladder.
Go down the ladder. There is nothing much to do at this level of the cave. Just get the pokeball lying there and go up the ladder on the other side. Here is another ice rink. Get the pokeball and then go up the ladder. Another easy ice puzzle. Get yourself through the ice to the ground then go up the ladder. This is the exit level of the cave. Go out of the cave and talk to the girl. This is the last city. You will see that the gym is blocked.
NOW! Do you remember the third town where you weren't allowed to go to many of the closed places? Go to that town! Go to the tall metal building and fight all the rockets all the way to the top of the building. Fight the boss in the garbage wear clothing and he will give you a key. Now, go to one of the houses with only a staircase leading to the basement. Go to the path on the right side and use the key to open the door.
Right when you are about to fight the first rocket, you have to confront your rival. Her pokemon are around level 30 so if you have trained well, it shouldn't be hard. Defeat her and fight the rockets. You will also face some burglars. Do you see the blue switches on the wall? Push those to open the doors to the end (Push Them In This Order= 3rd switch, 2nd switch, 1st swtich). There is a female TR at the end. Once you get there, push the blue switch to open the doors. Go inside and fight all the rockets until you get to the basement of the Shop. Talk to one of the guys with the boxes and they will give you a ID card to go back to the tower. It is used to open the door that didn't let you in. It's on the 3rd or 4th floor I think. Now go and fight the rocket's boss. He will leave and then the Eighth Gym is now unblocked!
The Eighth Gym is another boulder puzzle. Solve it and defeat the gym trainer. She likes to use dragons. But after you fight her, she does not give you the badge. You have to surf north of the gym to where an old man had once blocked. You have to destroy the whirlpool with the HM06 technique. Surf to the east and get the pokeball. She will come now and give you the Dragon Badge!! along with TM24, dragon blizzard.
8th gym to League
Exit the cave and you will get a phone call. It is Utsugi. Go to him in your hometown and he will give you the Master Ball. You can enter the pokemon league now since you have all eight badges. Leave and surf right/east of your house. You will then see a man and he will give you a map card. This enables you to see the second map which is necessary for your second quest.
Once you have got the second map, go into the cave. You will need the HM07 move where you could surf up waterfalls. Get out of the cave and you are on the blue/red/yellow, so called victory road. It is shorter and there are no boulders or puzzles to solve. Fight all the trainers and you will hit another cave.
This will be the last cave you enter before you get into the pokemon league. It is also your last time fighting your rival. Get out of the cave and you will see a building. This is the pokemon league. Here you will have to defeat the Elite 5. It consists of Itsuki (Psychic pokemon), Koga (poison), Batsu (bruno), karin (agatha's grand-daughter), and Wataru (Lance).
Their pokemon should be level 40 or higher. If you have trained well, it should not be very difficult.
