| Episode 1 Story |

The episode began with the castaways aboard a military plane. Once the plane landed, the two tribes had 5 minutes to gather all they could for the 5 mile trek to their camps. Kucha (which means Kangeroo in an Aboriginal language) and Ogakor (which means crocodile) were separated once the plane touched down.
Once they found their camps, both tribes set out gathering materials to make a shelter. Already, friendships were made as well as enemies between Jerri and Keith of the Ogakor tribe. Jeff Warner of the Kucha tribe was still a bit woozy from the plane ride up and threw up a lot. Perhaps he should be the one to go because of the way he had been feeling. But as we all know the people at Survivor like to create "red herrings" to throw us off and most of the time the person that seems most obvious to go, doesn't.
The first unofficial challenge for the two tribes to meet was the building of a fire. Since neither were sucessful, it made sense for the first challenge to involve fire as a prize.
Well the immunity challenge was a good one for the Ogakor tribe. The challenge, which was basically a 30 foot race to get to a tower to light. Kucha came up a bit short which meant they would trek to tribal council that night where their first member would be voted off.
There were thoughts that Rodger would be voted off. Because of his age (50) he would prove to be a disadvantage in all of the physical challenges. But that was not the way things turned out. In a 7-1 vote, Debb Eaton was the first to go. |
