| Should you buy a Dreamcast or Wait? |
One of the biggest questions this holiday season. Should you buy a Dreamcast or wait. Well it all depends on you. If you are one of those people who are loyal to Nintendo, well then you shouldn't buy it (it's close minded people that that really make me mad). Well we should look at Dreamcast's pros first.
If you are one of those people who don't have a computer (50% of people in the states don't) then the Dreamcast is
the best way to go. Why you ask? Because of it's built in modem. You can surf the net without having to buy a $2000 computer.
Next you say "Dreamcast is going down like the Saturn. Well that's not true. Sega actuallly put some thought into this machine.
Now I'm not saying that the Dreamcast will succeed but it will do a hell of a lot better than the Saturn. Just look at the sales of the Dreamcast. It has almost sold out the Saturn in the U.S. In Canada it has soldout the Saturn and in Japan it has to. Then again video games are a lot more popular now than when the Saturn was released. The Dreamcast is the most powerful console right now (PlayStation2 is way more powerful but it won't be out until Fall 2000 in the U.S. and Canada, March 2000 in Japan ).
The Dreamcast is also cheap (for a new console), When the PlayStation was released it was $378 U.S. it is only $200 in the U.S. and $300 in Canada. The Dreamcast might be the only console to offer internet gaming (besides Microsoft's X-Box).
Now for the cons. Dreamcast will be the least powerful in 2 years time. Due to Sega's bad history the Dreamcast might go down. But I think it won't. When Dreamcast was released it had faulty systems and games. Not a good start.
But even if I think it's a good system. It all depends on you. Here a few questions.
1.) Do you care about the characters? (If you wan major characters like Link or Mario)
2.) Do you want internet out of it?
3.) Do you want the most powerful machine? (Dreamcast will be the most powerful for a while)
4.) Are you a hardcore gamer? (Do you import games from time to time, do youlove Sega?)
5.) Are you a cheapskate? (If you are buy a Dreamcast)
If you answer 3 of the 5 questions yes then you should buy a Dreamcast if you answered less then 2 yes maybe the Dreamcast isn't your system. In my opinion you should buy one. |
