| Before Chossing your green anole, you must decide if you really want one. Do you want to catch/buy crickets, etc. for them? Would you like a very small animal that may not tolerate handling? Green Anoles are probably more suitable for older children that won't harm the lizard by handling it too much or squeezing it too hard. If you really do want one and your research is complete, lets take a trip to the pet store! If you want a pair of anoles (male and female) you'll need at least a 10-15 gallon aquarium. The more space-the better! If you get two, a couple would probably be best. You may choose to get two females which also should work out. Same gender anoles often fight over territiory (mainly two males). I would avoid getting two males unless you have a large aquarium 30-gal+ with many hiding places. You also have the choice of getting one male with up to three females. You would need a 30-gal. tank in this case. There is also the option of getting just one of either sex, but like most animals the anole may get lonely and have to make friends with it's food. When choosing a green anole from the pet store, pick one(s) that seem energetic, playful, a bright green colour or light brown without black dots behind the eyes and that are not too skinny. Choosing a healthy anole may mean no problems in the future. |
