Starts from episode 19 and ends episode 29
For the last 5 months, Goku and Krillin have trained for the Tenkaichi Budokai/World
Martial Arts Tournament. Unknowingly, they have become stronger and stronger
without the training of specific fighting skills. Goku surprises Roshi by moving a 2 story
tall boulder which Kamesennin said to push only as a joke. Roshi tells them to take off
their shells. They are both amazed at how fast they can move now. Lunch gives Goku and
Krillin new suits as a going away presents. And then the three leave Lunch behind to go
to the tournament. Yamcha has also been training for this tournament to. He has lived out
in the wilderness. He returns to the city to compete in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Bulma scolds Yamcha for not corresponding with her during the time he was
training. Goku and Krillin greet Yamcha, Bulma, Oolong, and Puar. When Roshi meets
Bulma, he wants some puff puff action, but instead Bulma pulls out a big mallet and hits
Roshi in the head instead. Goku and Krillin are given new dojis, since they can't use suits
to battle. Roshi says he will be cheering them on from the stands and walks away
abruptly.
Goku, Yamcha, and Krillin walk into the preliminary rounds forever changing their lives.
These rounds decides 8 out of the 137 warriors will go to the finals. All the 137 warriors
pick a number out of a box telling which ring they will be fighting in. Goku and Krillin
picks numbers in the third ring, but luckily they won't have to fight each other. Yamcha
picks a number placing him in the second ring.
Goku and Krillin easily defeat all their opponents using a small amount of their energy.
Krillin coincidentally fights someone from his old training group, who Krillin easily
defeats. Yamcha has a little opposition too, but defeats his opponent showing that his
training paid off. All three of them make it to the finals.
The final eight contenders are.
Goku vs. Giran
Namu vs. Lanfan
Yamcha vs. Jackie Chun
Krillin vs. Bacterian
The first battle is between Krillin and Bacterian. Bacterium has never bathed in his life,
uses his bad odor to distract his opponents and make them cover their noses. Krillin
begins to lose the match as Bacterian uses his breath and sweat against him. Then Goku
reminds Krillin that he has no nose and it's his imagination. Then after realizing this,
Krillin easily dispatches of Bacterian.
The next match is between Yamcha and Jackie Chun. Yamcha uses his Wild Wolf
technique and all his tricks, but Jackie Chun easily defeats him. Yamcha starts to think
that Jackie Chun is the old wise one, Roshi, because they look very similar, and have the
same attacks and habits.
The third match is between Namu and Lanfan. Namu is in the tournament because he
needs the prize money to buy water for his village, so he is very determined to win.
Lanfan uses her good looks to distract Namu, and manages to get a few heavy blows at
him. However, Namu closes his eyes so he won't be distracted and wins the match.
The final first bracket is between Goku and Giran. Giran, is a big dinosaur like creature,
that spits in Goku's face to distract him. He grabs Goku and tosses him out of the ring,
but Goku calls his kinto Un/Flying Nymbus and to bring him back in the ring. Giran
accuses Goku of cheating. The judges talk it over, and Goku will be allowed back in the
fight, but cannot uses it again. Goku breaks out of Girans bind with his tail and easily
knocks him out.
There are now four finalists.
Goku vs. Namu
and
Krillin vs. Jackie Chun
Goku shows of his new accessory to the crowd. Krillin is surprised Goku didn't tell them
before. Krillin tells the announcer that they were both trained by the great Muten
Roshi/Master Roshi and should not be looked down upon just because they are kids.
Yamcha accuses Jackie Chun of being master Roshi, but he denies it. Before the next
fight begins, Jackie Chun’s grabs the microphone out of the announcer's hand and does a
singing number. Goku joins him and everyone is blasted away by their terrible singing.
After that, the first semi-final match begins.
Krillin and Roshi/Jackie Chun go at it at full force, so much so, that the announcer can't
even keep up his play by play report to the crowd. Krillin and Jackie Chun then repeat the
same kind of sequence which took about 1 second of time showing how they both
exchanged attacks. Krillin then uses his back up plan and throws a pair of girls
underwear on the floor and Jackie Chun dives for it, and Krillin goes in for the kill.
Jackie Chun is sent flying into the sky out of sight, but he uses his Kamehameha and is
blown back into the ring. Krillin charges toward him, and misses. Then Jackie uses his
one pattern trick to sneak up behind Krillin and then hits him in the back of the head.
Krillin falls unconscious and loses the match.
The next match is between Goku and Namu. Namu uses his X-diving attack, and
manages to get the upper hand on Goku. But Goku proves he is to strong and wins the
match. After the match, Master Roshi/Jackie Chun reads Namu's mind and sees the
drought problems in his village. He gives Namu a large capsule to put water in. Then he
reveals that he is the great wise one. Roshi explains that in order to make Goku and
Krillin strive and train, they must know that there are other stronger people in the world.
He tells Namu to dress like him and go into the crowd as a favor. Jackie Chun tells
Yamcha to look in the crowd and he sees Roshi.
The FINAL Battle
Goku and Jackie Chun start the match with much haste. They both rush towards each
other and then follow up with some arial kicks and punches. Jackie kicks Goku far out of
the ring. The Announcer starts to say that Jackie is the winner, but Goku comes back
flying into the ring thanks to his tail. Goku says "Kamehameha" Jackie says
"Kamehameha" both blast collide. Both of them are blown back. The two fireballs nullify
each other. Jackie uses his Zan zouken move on Goku, who quickly learns the technique.
Jackie pretends he's a drunk stupor. Goku counters it with pretending to be a hungry
stricken wolk out for lunch. Jackie runs for his life as Goku kicks him, sending him
flying into a post.
Jackie and Goku start from square one again. Neither of them are in the lead. Jackie
starts to use hypnosis on Goku. The announcer questions this technique and then starts
counting after being scolded at. The crowd joins in as they are trying to wake Goku up.
Bulma yells out that it's dinner time and Goku wakes up looking for food. More attacks
are exchanged. Jackie decides to finish it with his Bankoku Bikuri Shou attack and sends
it at Goku electrifying him. Goku tries to get out of it, but can't get free. Then Goku looks
up at the full moon. He transforms into a Oozaru/Giant Ape. Oozaru Goku destroys the
Budokai area. Jackie figures the only way to stop this madness is to shoot a
kamehameha. He becomes real muscular and launches the kamehameha. Everyone closes
their eyes. When they open them, Goku is gone..
The announcer assumes Goku is dead and starts to announce that Jackie is the winner.
Krillin calls Jackie Chun a murderer. Jackie points out that Goku is still alive. Goku gets
out of the rubble and is about to fight him naked. Krillin gives Goku his outfit to fight in
honor. Jackie Chun and Goku agree to fight hand and hand, and no using special
techniques or blasts. The two kick and punch at each other giving the crowd a good fight.
They run at each other and kick each other in the face. Both of them hit the ground and
are knocked out. The Announcer counts to ten. Goku does his best to get up, but faints.
Jackie gets up and is declared the winner. Later on that day, Roshi treats the others to a
nice and expensive dinner that uses up most of the prize money.
Now that the tournament is over, Goku decides to search for his grandfathers sushinchu.
The 4 star ball. Krillin decides to train some more with Roshi. The rest decide to go back
to their everyday lives. Meanwhile, Namu returns to his village and gives the hoi capsule
to the village. They are very happy, but know this won't last forever. One of the elders
asks Namu to look for the reason behind the drought. So Namu begins his journey to find
out the reason for the blocked river.
Bulma, Yamcha, Puar, and Oolong get trapped in a sand storm and have to take shelter as
it passes. Namu is attacked by a giant bird and Goku comes to save him. Goku asks what
he is doing there and he explains to Goku about the blocked river. Goku decides to help
Namu. They travel upstream and find a group of Giran's enjoying a nice cool bath in a river water which they blocked up with their GuruGuru Gum. Namu begs them to let the water flow downstream, but the Giran's neglect his plea. One of the Giran recognize Goku from the Budokai and gives him a chance to break the "unbreakable" dam. Goku shoots a kamehameha at the dam and destroys it.
