The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews Band, and Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers will play the 14th annual Bridge School Benefit concerts, according to a spokesperson for the event.
The October 28 and 29 concerts, to be held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, will also feature Beck, folk duo Tegan & Sara and the reunited Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
The annual all-acoustic event raises money for the Bridge School, an institution for children with severe physical and speech impairments. The school was co-founded in 1986 by Young and his wife, Pegi.
The absence of electric guitars doesn't stop bands from playing hard and loud. Last year's show was highlighted by a raucous set from Green Day, as well as performances from Tom Waits, The Who, Pearl Jam, and Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins.
RED HOT CHEII PEPPERS
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have caught the live-recording bug.
On Thursday night, the Peppers will hook up with acclaimed video director Wayne Isham to film the band's concert in Portland, Oregon, for an upcoming DVD and home video.
Warner Bros. has yet to set a release date for the live DVD and video, and there are currently no plans for an accompanying album to be culled from the Chili Peppers' show at Memorial Coliseum.
Isham, a 20-year music video veteran, has recently filmed clips for 'NSYNC ("It's Gonna Be Me" and "Bye Bye Bye"), Bon Jovi ("It's My Life"), and Metallica ("I Disappear").
During the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month, Isham's clip for Aaliyah's "Try Again" won a pair of Moonmen for Best Video From A Film and Best Female Video
That same night, the Chili Peppers' video for "Californication" took home a pair of technical awards for Best Direction and Best Art Direction In A Video, and the band was also honored with the 2000 Video Vanguard Award.
Prior to the recent launch of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' summer outing, band bassist Flea talked with MTV Radio about the possibility of a live album being spawned from the group's extended tour in support of "Californication." |
