Anthony Beard, BA, Dip.Lib., ALA.
Tony Beard took a degree in English Literature, at Exeter University, in 1969. He took a certificate in Education in 1970. After a brief spell as an English Master at Boston Grammar School, he went to the Polytechnic of North London and gained his Diploma in Librarianship. Where he currently works as a Senior Lecturer Information Management.
His interest in music developed via in the Emanuel at School Orchestra and the University of Exeter Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, in which he was the Principal Timpanist, as well as being in the Kensington Sinfonia.
He has sung in the Emanuel School Choir,(recording Mahler's 8th Symphony, Honniger's Cantata de Noel and Britten's Spring Symphony), as well as St. Bartholomew's Choir and various other amateur choirs. He has conducted the Boston Youth Wind Band.
He has been Choirmaster at St.Paul's since 1982.
