I was one of a few hundred people to have seen this film. I went to the Sedona Film Festival on Saturday March 3, 2001 to see this movie. We drove from Tucson, which is about a 5 hour drive just to see it. We were kinda nervous because you are not guaranteed a seat. You have to wait until all of the people who bought passes get in, than if there are any seats left you can buy individual tickets. We got lucky and got right in. The Director, Paul Duran, and the Producer, Vera Anderson were both there. They first did a short introduction to the movie, than we watched it. It was a great movie very funny. The actors did a great job. We found out later that this was a 150 page script shot in 18 days for about $250,000. This was so independent that they used all of the house shots in their house, they used their back alley, and so on. They found the star dog of the movie at a groomer's. The actors even wore their own clothing.
I also found out that Stepfanie had actually been hired on to this project 2 days before filming began. They had another actress lined up until she backed out last minute. So Stepfanie jumped right in and learned her part very fast and did a excellent job! The producer commented on how lucky they were to get her. "She brought a lot to the table" she said. Which by watching this movie you will agree with. This is not a normal SK movie, this is a much different character she has ever played. I don't want to give too much away. I hope everyone gets a chance to see this.
The Director talked about distribution, at this point no offers have been made to purchase the film. So they are going to any and all film festivals to get more of an audience. This was a great experience, I had a lot of fun. I hope all of you get a chance to see this film. So keep your fingers crossed that this film is bought and put out on video soon!! |
