You've read the rumors and all of the speculation, but now there's stone cold proof that another Resident Evil title is headed to the N64. Biohazard Zero is the Japan-only game that N64 fans will recognize as Resident Evil. While Capcom USA has not acknowledged an American release of a Resident Evil Zero videogame, a Japanese version of a new N64 RE/Biohazard game is a good sign for US console owners. Let's face it, it's only a matter of time until Capcom USA announces the game over here.
So far, we know the game is set in a time period before the original Resident Evil game on PlayStation. Those gamers that used Chris Redfield and who got sick and tired of saving Rebecca Chambers over and over again to get the best ending will be pleased to know she's the lead character this time around. You'll take the rookie cop through her motions as she stumbles upon the biotechnological horrors that are the backbone of the entire Resident Evil universe. The storyline for Biohazard Zero should include a lot of the backstory and crucial clues to what happened in the original game. New information about the Umbrella Corporation and a more complete picture of what happened to the original S.T.A.R.S. team sent to investigate the strange events at the mansion.

The warm reception Resident Evil 2 received this past holiday season will no doubt play a part in bringing a potential Resident Evil Zero to the US. Beyond even this good news, it's a big third step in Capcom's much appreciated march back into Nintendo's loving arms. IGN64 will have more on Biohazard Zero including Capcom's US release plans.
