Venus- Venus is the second planet from the sun. Is the closest planet to earth. Its known as earth's "twin" because the planet size is so similar. The diameter of Venus is about 7,520 miles(12,100 kilometers) and about 400 miles(644 kilometers) smaller than the earth.N other planet comes closer to the earth than Venus. At its closest approach, it is about 25,000,000 miles(40,200,000 kilometers) away from earth. As seen from earth, Venus is brighter than any other planet or even any star. At certain times of the year Venus is the first planet or star in the western sky. At other times its the last planet to be seen in the eastern sky. Although Venus is called earth's "twin", its surface conditions appear to be very different from those of earth. The surface of Venus is very hot and dry. Space probes
have found that the surface features on Venus are some what close to ours. The features include mountain ranges, canyons, valleys, and plains. There are two mountain ranges on Venus and both are the sizes of continents on earth. Even though Mercury is closer to the
sun, Venus is often hotter than mercury. One year on Venus is 225 earth days. The temperature is 850 degrees F.(455 C.). The atmosphere is made of Carbon dioxide, nitrogen, water vapor, argon, carbon monoxide, neon, and sulfur dioxide. It has no satellites.
