Uranus- Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. Only Neptune and Pluto are further away. Uranus has a diameter of 31,570 miles, which is more than four times the diameter of earth. The mean distance from the sun is 1,781,000,000 miles. The planet takes 30,685 earth days to orbit the sun. At its closest approach, the planet is 1,700,000,000 miles. While orbiting the sun, Uranus rotates on its axis, an imaginary line that runs through the center. Little is known about the planets surface. Astronomers believe the planet to be surrounded by clouds. Astronomers estimate the temperature to be -357 F. Uranus has 17 known satellites. The planet also has eleven thin rings. They are much fainter then Saturn and the rings are made of several chunks of unknown black material.
