Saturn-Saturn is the second largest planet. Saturn has seven thin,flat rings around it.The rings consist of numerous narrow ringlets,which are made up of ice particles that travel around the planet.The gleaming rings makes Saturn one of the most beautiful objects in the solar system. The diameter of Saturn is about 74,600 miles, almost 10 times that of the earth.The planet can be seen from earth with out the aid of a telescope but the rings
cannot.Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun and its mean distance is 885,200,000. The planet takes about 10,759 earth days to go around the sun or 29 1/2 earth years. The
atmosphere on Saturn contains: hydrogen,helium,methane,ammonia,ethane,and mabey phosphine. Astronomers have found 23 satellites around Saturn. The temperature on Saturn is about -285 F. (-176 C.).Saturn has no surface, but it does have a hot rocky core.
