| Here is some cool facts you might not have known about our very own galaxy. 1.Our galaxy and 19 others are located in the Virgo Super Cluster. 2.There is an estimated 10,000,000 stars at the center. 3.The center is roughly 1 light year wide(6 trillion miles) 4.Scientist believe there to be a super massive black hole in the center. 5.Our solar system in 30 light-years away from the galatic center. 6.Scientist have made calculations and think there could be 10,000 civilizations in the milky way. (I have no idea how they came to that). 7.Its 100,000 light years from one side of the milky way to the other. 8.The galaxy contains over 300 billion stars. 9.The milky way has five arms: Cyghus,Centarus,Sagittarius,Orion,and Purseus. 10.Our solar system is in the Sagittarius Arm. 11.The local group which contains about 30 galaxies is 6,199,598.336 light years. 12.The virgo Super Cluster is 103,253,873.7 light years,the milky way lies on the outer edge.  |
