| Black Holes Black Holes are the most destructive thing in the universe. They destroy space and time. Nothing can escape it, not even light. But some scientist think they have found away to get inside a black hole. There are two basic kinds of black holes, your regular and your super massive. Say we find a black hole in the middle of our galaxy and we want to find out what is inside. Well we can't, that is impossible. First of all the ship would be destroyed before it even made it to the event horizon, which is the boundary around the black hole. It would be destroyed be what is called the "spaghetti" effect. This will cause it to stretch and get completely destroyed. But a super massive is a little different. A super massive has a jet stream that can shoot matter and gas thousands of light years into space. But what makes these so strange is that we could actually go inside a super massive black hole. First of all the spaghetti effect does not happen here, so we can get in. Once inside we will not be able to radio back saying that the ship made it because the signal could not escape, even thought it is traveling the speed of light. In each black hole there is what is called the "singularity" which is where space and time are destroyed and no longer exist. All physics that we know of to not apply here. So after an hour are little probe would be destroyed. We barley know, if anything about the new physics that are going on here but in time we may know. Astronomers and physicist think that one day we may be able to travel to a black hole.  in this picture is a super massive black hole. you can tell be the jet streams that shoot the gas thousands a light years into space. this is not a real photo. |
