The Sith are the Jedi's mortal enemy's. They believe in the dark side of the Force and have red lightsabers. There are apprentices and Sith Lords, though a lord could still be an apprentice (Darth Vader is still the apprentice of Darth Sidious although he is a Sith Lord). All Sith are called Darth- then something evil, like Sidious-Insidious, Vader- Invader and we all know what Maul means. The dark side of the force is a much easier but weaker path, with powers revolving around passion, fear and hate. This is less reliable and could lead to deformity, pain and then death (deformity in Darth Sidious' case). The Sith were always in lesser numbers but often stronger than the Jedi as they recieved singular attention from the start whereas the Jedi begin in small groups. The Sith were in complete power of the universe twice but the Jedi pulled through. The Sith that feature in the films are: Darth Sidious (Chancellor Palpatine), Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker), Darth Tyranus (Count Dooku) and Darth Maul. Vader was once Anakin Skywalker, a hard working but arrogant Jedi Knight. He had a love for a polititian named Padme Amidala. Padme and he married secretly and kept it hidden from the rest of the Jedi Order. This worked until Padme became pregnant and Anakin began having visions of her dying in childbirth. Believing they were like the dreams he had of his mother, that came true, Anakin swore to save Padme, no matter what the cost. When hearing from a close freind Chancellor Palpatine about a powerful Sith that could save peopes lives Anakin began to wonder. Palpatine had sensed Anakin's love and fear for Padme and had used it along side Palpatine's (by now revealed as Darth Sidious) old master to over elaborate the powers of the Sith. This led to a chain of events turning Anakin to the dark side. In facing his old master in a fight on Mustafar Anakin over estimated his power and was cut down by Obi-Wan. Anakin was caught by the lava and set alight. He was just saved by Darth Sidious. Rise Lord Vader.
