They're right. The world does need a hero, at least the metal world does. With rap and *shudder* pop ruling the airwaves, with leader of the pack Metallica sinking into mediocrity, with bands like Papa Roach and *violent shudder* Limp Bizkit considered metal these days, the metal world needs a hero in the worst way. Enter Megadeth. They've been around forever, but have always been in the shadows. Will they jump out now to the forefront? Will they be the new "in" band? No, they wont. But that doesn't detract from the fact that this is one helluva album. From Disconnect to Return to Hangar, this album is the best metal album to come down the pike in quite some time. The only song that I dont like is When, which would've been a good song, if it hadnt been done over 20 years ago by Diamond Head and called Am I Evil?. When is a blatant ripoff of that classic, but everything else absolutely rules. This album won't sell. It probably won't go platinum, and it's the loss of everyone who passes it up. If you're not familiar with Megadeth, and you want to get acquainted with them, buy this album, you won't regret it, I promise you.
The 4 best songs on the album:
1. Return to Hangar
2. Recipe For Hate...Warhorse
3. Dread And The Fugitive Mind
4. 1000 Times Goodbye
The Bottom Line: **** |
