Green Street is . . .
a place where Imagination, Beauty, Eros and Intellect are neighbors. . . and the soul-in its multiple manifestations - is honored.
Green Street is place of Conviviality. Its inhabitants dance, laugh, prepare feasts, drink, listen to music and enjoy the friendship of one another.
Green Street is a reading/discussion group that was found(ed) in Chicago in 1992 that seriously entertains the ideas of James Hillman, Ginette Paris, David Miller, Patricia Berry, Thomas Moore and other writers, scholars, artists and poets who honor the depth and fecundity of the soul. It is a place for savoring the world of Archetypal Psychology.
Green Street is at the intersection of everyday life and the aesthetic recognition of the Divine.

What is Archetypal Psychology?
by Ben Sells
Archetypal Psychology is . . . an innately diverse and complex style of psychological imagination. It can be seen as a broad, cross-cultural movement whose main thrust is to grant "psyche" or "soul" its legitimate place in modern cultural imagination.
Although "archetypal psychology" as a modern discipline is primarily associated with the work of James Hillman and Thomas Moore, and before them the Swiss psychologist C. G. Jung, it continues a tradition reaching from pre-Socratic times. It sounds themes already heard in Heraclitus, Plato, the Neoplatonic tradition, and Renaissance thinkers such as Marsilio Ficino and Paracelsus that proclaim a foundational role for soul in the life of the world. Archetypal psychology therefore posits a poetic basis of mind that sees all things in terms of their connection to the ongoing life of imagination, thereby escaping the common reductive traps of personalism, Cartesian fragmentation, and secular scientism. Archetypal psychology frees the soul and its tellings ("psyche-logos") from the strictures of narrowly imagined methods inappropriate to the soul's natural mystery, and seeks to re-establish the primary connections existing between soul and all forms of human activity. Archetypal psychology thereby honors the old idea that the world is full of gods.
