Another Day
What consists in a day to make it different than before?
I work and eat then rest and sleep then wonder what’s in store.
What will the new day bring? What’s ahead of me today?
Rise at dawn, off for work, starting my new day.
Coffee in hand, down the same road, in to work by 8.
Grab the mail, sort the junk, and then to sit and wait.
It’s quitting time and off I go heading right back home.
Prepare a meal, sit to eat, pick up the telephone.
Call someone to hear what’s new and going on beyond.
But what I’d really like to do is wave a magic wand!
Stretch the world from its routine, eliminating much.
Enjoy the simple things in life, things we don’t dare touch.
To admire cascading waterfalls, stars dancing in the sky.
Take a child by the hand and sing a lullaby.
Walk down a country road, whistling a tune.
Sit underneath an apple tree finding shade at noon.
To love, and giving more than the other can receive.
A place so far from all we know we’d never want to leave.
Cascading falls and endless skies of pleasure & delight.
Peace and joy and love and hope …all within one’s sight.
A time to meet and greet and spend time with one another.
To appreciate this gift of life we have with every brother.
Embrace each day, giving thanks, and look to serve a friend.
This is the day in which I seek, where love does have no end.
But I awaken from my dream, arise for work again.
It’s just another day, I think. Still am where I was then.
Dinner made, I sit and eat to watch what’s on the t.v.
Oh, look. I see there’s something new … Paris just got freed.
Brittany shaves her head, but why? I’d not do that to mine.
But I suppose she was distraught from losing Federline!
Enough tube…there’s more bad news than I would like to hear.
And when did time escape from me? We’re in the middle of the year!
Oh, well. I’ve had enough of thought in what to me seems best.
Perhaps this life and all we do is nothing but a test.
And then we’re gone and maybe then, I’ll have my heart’s delight
And all the things I wish so much…will be within grasp & sight????
