Rebatching soap seems to be a problem for some people, while others love it. I personally hated the way my rebatched soap looked until I discovered the microwave method of rebatching. Now, my rebatched soaps are smooth and don't seem to shrink as much.
So, I'm going to give directions for this method first.
Microwave Rebatching:
1 pound soap, cut into small pieces or grated
1/4 c. water or milk
Put soap and liquid into a glass casserole dish or a heavy plastic container, and put into the microwave for about 2 minutes. Stir down the soap, (it will puff up a little bit, that's normal). Put back into the microwave for 2 minutes, stir down, and just repeat the process until all the soap is melted. Now, your soap will be very hot, as well as liquidy, and pourable. Add your color, fragrance, herbs, ect., stir well while letting cool somewhat. Now, pour into prepared molds. Leave to cool, then pop them into the freezer for a short while, remove from molds, and cure 2-4 weeks.
