Breeding
How do you use this new "breeding" feature in Pokémon Gold & Silver? Well, I've been asked this many times, and I wondered for a long time myself. It turns out that the new Celadon City, (Kogane City). It has a big PokéMart, A casino, just like in Pokémon Blue & Red. It also has the Bicycle, the Squirttle water, and the radio tower. Underneath the town, near the entrance, there is house with a backyard, with a pond. Inside is two old couples. These two are your breeding keys! Usually, if you leave one of your Pokémon there, and come back later, it will probably gained a level. So, they "feed" your Pokémon experience, or so to speak. But there is a price of course! Anyways, if you leave a male Pokémon with the old man, and a female one with the old lady, the Pokémon will breed. BUT, not just any type, they have to be similiar, not the same icons, or the same type! Ekans and Onix will not mate, Mankey and Machop will not mate, and a Togepi and a Pidgey will not mate, but a Pidgey and a Spearow will! So, you have to use common sense and try to figure it all out. When you leave 2 Pokemon that "might" mate, leave and walk around for *ABOUT* 500 steps. Go back to the house, if you see the old man standing in the backyard, then the egg is ready! Make sure you have 1 open slot in your Pokémon section, or he won't give it to you. You'll know that he gave it to you if he walks back into the house. (Warning: They might charge you if your parent Pokémon gained a level in the "process", but I think it's a small price to pay.) Take the egg, and walk around for *ABOUT* 1000 steps, just like you did with Togepi, and the egg will hatch! It will only hatch if you keep it in your party, the steps do not coun if you deposit it into a Pokémon Box. So, what is so good about cross-breeding? Isn't that gross? Well, the baby's stats will be affected by the parents'. If one has a high offence, and the other has a high defense, the baby could inherit the strength of it's parents, and become super strong! (But that is not a guarantee! It might inherit their weaknesses, and become super weak! So it's all up to luck.) Also, the baby could have a possibility of learning a new move that it never had a chance of learning before! For example, if you breed 187.Hanekko (brown Pokémon with 2 green leaves on it's head, like a helicopter) with a Bellsprout, the baby Bellsprout might learn Recover! Last notes, the baby will have a higher possibility of becoming the Pokémon that it's mother is. So if the mother is a Pidgey, then the baby will have a higher chance of being a Pidgey than being whatever the father is. On another note, if you breed two evolved Pokémon, the baby will be the first form. So if the parents are 2 Dragonites, the baby will come out as a Lv.5 Dratini. Yes, the baby always comes out as Lv.5. Lastly, neutral Pokémon, which means it has no gender, hehehe like no.......... symbol next to their name, cannot breed. Examples are Annon and Ditto. And that's how you do it!
