--->Here's some great stuff to d/l...remixes and a live SM show - enjoy.

-I have created this site to express my views and interests in musical genres. (And because I like to mess around w/ html and whatnot) The main genre expressed on this site is ska or ska/punk music. I greatly enjoy this style of music due because it reflects the feelings and views of teens like myself.
A little about myself: I'm a 16 year old guy who goes to high school and lives in West Virginia. I play trombone in the hs band and am an active member of the BSA. My interests/hobbies are: music, technology & computers, outdoor stuff like camping, biking, & hiking, and (fast) cars. I consider myself an overall good person and I am very happy with my life currently. I am blessed to have in my life awesome music, great friends, and a wonderful girlfriend.
Haha, sorry about the boring personal ad-like description, but it's that best I can do :op.
Anyway, on to the main site content...
Influences: I almost solely listened to country music and hardly anything else with regards to musical genres throughout the duration of my childhood. Country music was, and still is a wonderful style of music in my opinion; and even though I don't listen to it nearly as much as I once did, I still enjoy the classics and new songs frequently.
-I found ska and ska/punk music early my freshman year in high school through a newly acquired friend who enjoyed those styles very much. As, they grew on me, I began to investigate specific bands and songs. I was pleasantly suprised that the lyrics and moods of each songs were extremely inspirational to me, at the time in my life. I have a passion for ska music mainly due to its 'happy' and upbeat nature and its (sometimes) meaningful lyrics. The musicians are usually young themselves, and as a result they I would also like to stress that even though musical genres often relates to life experiences and feelings, in my opinion, they should never be developed into a lifestyle or such. You shouldn't live your life by or through any type music. Music is meant to entertain, and nothing more.
-To date, I have acquired many favorite bands who each are individually unique in their own way. My favorites are Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, and Catch 22. This is ironic because even though RBF and SM are categorized in the same genre, their styles and lyrics are somewhat opposite. For example, RBF's songs are primarily focused on having fun and living life to the fullest no matter who you are. "Cheer Up!" on of their songs says, with good meaning. On the other hand, SM is fronted by whom some have dubbed the 'lyrical mastermind', Tomas Kalnoky. Their songs revolve around the same cocnept as RBF, but is presented in a different lyrical fashion. The lyrics are truly astounding in my opinion, as many agree. They basically outline the concepts and actions of young adults with excellent, more-mature lyrics as opposed to many ska bands.
-Ska is a unique, yet very entertaining genre; packed with meaning and fun. The combonation of traditional band instruments with the addtion of horns and great lyrics is an excellent combination.

These are not sponsors (me...sponsors, haha); they are just services & stuff that in my opinion are worth checking out, and I'm just helping to spread the word.
