HOW TO OLLIE - The first thing with an ollie is to be relaxed and smooth. Watch any pro skater ollie and they're smoother than silk sheets. When you're feeling relaxed and smooth stand on your board with one foot on the kick and one foot in the exact middle of the board. (Try this trick stationary first then add motion later). Then with your back leg jam down the kick. This should but all the wheels of the board into the air momentarily. As soon as you do this drag your front foot up the board. Using the front kick to "catch" your front foot is a great idea and will give you extra height. For a good part of the ollie only the front foot should be in contact with the board. When you come to the peak of your ollie shift your weight equally on both feet in preparation for the landing. Land, bend at the knees and ride away.
Remember - An ollie is SNAPPY BUT SMOOTH!!!

HOW TO NOLLIE- I'll describe this trick in stages
1)In order to learn this trick, you must fell confident with your ollies, because the nollie requires exactly the same concepts.
2) To begin, place your comfortably on the nose and your back foot just over the middle board.
3) Push down on the nose to get the best pop;the harder you push, the higher you go. Now your back foot helps you come off the ground by sliding it up the board.
4) When you feel like you have reached maximum hight, your board should have levelled out, parallel to the ground
5) Now wait until you hit the ground, and like everybody says, roll away smoothly.
NOTE: If you are trying this trick over an object, you must start to nollie a little bit sooner to allow the nose can clear it

HOW TO OLLIE GRAB - Before you take this trick to a ramp do it standing still. Bend your knees really deeply as this is the position you want to be in in the air. Ollie as you would usually and practise getting into a position where you can grab the board(with knees bent, you shouldn't have to bend at the waist at all.)Have your hand ready to grab the board i.e sort of drag it behind/down but don't let it prevent the natural course of your ollie For first trying this trick I suggest using your back hand to grab the board between your feet (an indy). When you first do this trick just tap the board with your hand until you get the feel of it. When you start to try it on a ramp or down stairs or what ever grab the board, pull it out from under you and then bail, If the gap isn't too big! This way you get the feel of the grab and then once you've got the hang of it stick the trick and ride away! When you're doing this trick remember to keep both feet in contact with the board whilst grabbing and when you've finished the grab keep the board stuck to your feet as you extend your legs, land and roll away.

HOW TO F/S 180 DEGREE OLLIE - If you've got the ollie down then the 180 ollie should follow soon after. The instructions below are on how to fronside 180, meaning you can see in front of you the whole way. Okay, this is how it's done. Go along as though you were going to ollie. Place your front foot ¾ of the way up the board and your back foot fairly central on the tail.
Begin the ollie motion but as you pop the kick, move your back foot around as far as you can whilst keeping it on the board. At the same time as this drag your front foot up the board and around in an opposite direction to your back foot. If all is done right you'll land the ollie going fakie (backwards). This trick is hard to describe but the important thing to remember is that both feet play an equal role in the moving of the board. If you try to do the whole thing with one foot, YOU WILL NOT MAKE IT. This is the most common error and can be easily avoided, GOOD LUCK!

HOW TO BACKSIDE 180 OLLIE - The backside 180 is exactly the same as the frontside 180 except you spin the opposite way.i.e with you back facing towards your landing. You should attempt this trick with your back foot in the center of the kick and your front foot slightly above the center of the deck, slightly closer to the heel edge.
Sounds easy eh? The trick is to keep your back foot on the board whilst rotating. To do this some skaters ollie at an angle to make it easier but I've found it's easier to go big and rotate slowly around. If you don't make 180 degrees that's cool just lean to fakie and if you ride with loose trucks (like me) you'll make it. This is one of those tricks which looks and sounds easy but ain't. It's also the basis for the backside 180 kickflip.
This is where all the difficulty comes in. Okay, roll forward at a moderate speed, (this trick is very hard to do standing still or going slow so move with a bit of pace). Start to ollie as you would normally but as you snap down the kick and drag your front foot up, move your back foot around 180 degrees. When you drag your front foot up you should also drag it across the board, helping the rotation. Thus both your feet are working together in rotating the board. Use your feet together, land and roll away.

HOW TO 50-50 GRIND - The 50-50 is usually the first grind or slide ever learnt and involves sticking both trucks to a ledge, coping or rail and sliding/grinding along. To do this trick approach the grindable object at about a 30 degree angle or less (the smaller the angle the smoother the grind, but it's often easier to approach at a big angle.) Ollie up onto the legde and push your back foot out so it lands or the edge (heaps of people don't do that and thus only the front truck gets on.)As soon as you're on push the board forward (or backward, depending if it's frontside or backside) so that the wheels are touching the vertical part of the ledge. (get it?) This makes it heaps easier to balance for longer grinds and you will also grind better this way. Cruise along and as you feel your momentum slow shift your weight to the back kick, drop off and roll away.
Those instructions are for your standard ledge and coping but if you're going for a rail of some sort, either square or round in base DO NOT push the board once you're on as this will end in disaster big time. Also for grinds if you want to them well approach with speed and confidence. This is the most important part of any grind, as if you approach in a slow and reserved manner you'll stuff it and it'll stuff you aswell, just remember a grind is
A 50-50 IS FAST AND SMOOTH

HOW TO 5-0 GRIND - A 5-0 grind is like the 50-50 but instead of sticking both trucks on the ledge you just stick the back one, so it’s like a manual grind. This is how to do it. Approach with confident speed at a 30 degree angle or less. Ollie as you would for a 50-50 but ollie higher, so that you peak over the ledge. Just before you peak, push your back foot down but leave your front foot at it’s original height. As the truck comes into contact with the ledge, push the wheels against the vertical part of the ledge as you would with the 50-50. Now you’re on, balance in that position, grinding along until you drop of the end of the ledge or loose momentum and drop of the side. Once you’ve got this trick down then you can transfer to a frontside or backside tailslide halfway through. This trick is really sick and when it’s done crooked it looks and feels even better. Heaps of people have trouble holding the position in the grind so you may want to practise manuals on a manual pad or a kerb or something like that.

HOW TO BOARDSLIDE - A boardslide is a slide in which the deck is slammed onto the rail/bench/ledge or whatever and slid along. This is the most common way for skaters to break their decks but it's a great trick none the less. To do a boardslide approach the rail at a 30 degree angle (or less) and as you approach the target ollie up. When you feel that your deck is over the object push down with both feet and slap the deck to the rail. As you would with all other slides "push" the board forward with either your heels (frontside) or the ball of your foot (backside). As you near the end of the rail apply a little more weight to your back foot and then move your front foot (and the board) around 90 degrees, drop off and ride away.
Balancing yourself or the rail can be pretty hard and it's easier if you put one arm extended out front and one extended out back. Also on a backside boardslide "push" only a very small amount as if you do it much harder the board will slide out from under you and you face will be sliding along the rail. To avoid snapping your deck whilst performing this trick, many people slide more over their trucks than the center of the board to give some extra support. SLIDE ON!

HOW TO NOSESLIDE - The noseslide is one of the great moves of skating today. This trick can be taken on so many different levels from the basic curb to a big burly 25 stair hand rail. Ok, to backside noseslide on a low ledge, approach the ledge with a fair amount of speed (this influences your sliding distance), with your back foot on the tail of the board and the front foot on the nose. Approach the ledge at a shallow angle (45 degrees or less) and as you approach shift your weight to your back foot to raise the nose. Then when the nose is over the ledge shift your weight forward onto the nose, and push your back foot out so that your board is at right angles to the ledge. You should be sliding along now. To aid your sliding, if you are doing the trick backside, put your weight onto your heel and "push" the board a little. If you are doing the trick backside then do the same thing but with the ball of your foot.
To get out of the slide you can either roll to fakie of continue in your usual stance. To continue in your usual stance push the nose of the board forward, off the ledge and keep your back foot in touch with the board. To roll to fakie use your back foot to rotate the board around the next 90 degrees and your nose will drop of the ledge.
If you are doing this trick on a high ledge, on your approach ollie either backside or frontside 90 degrees so that your front foot lands on the nose which can then pressed to the ledge and slid. Exit the same way but hold the board to your feet.

HOW TO TAILSLIDE - It may be easier to do this trick if you think of it as a combination of a 180 ollie (frontside or backside) and a noseslide. This trick is much harder than the noseslide and when done backside can be really difficult. Approach your target at a 30 degree angle or less and ollie as though you were going to do a 180. As you rotate the first 90 degrees your tail and back trucks will be over the ledge.
As you reach 90 degrees your tail should be directly over the ledge. Press down with your back foot and "push" the tail as you would in a noseslide. When you come to the end of the ledge or loose your momentum you have 2 options. You can either roll to fakie (finishing the 180) or drop off and ride away in your normal stance.
With this trick the hard part is getting the backfoot to guide the tail of the board to the ledge or rail, but with practise it'll come naturally. To do this trick backside isn't easy and is mush harder than frontside, but it's easier to finish of the 180 and roll to fakie, especially at speed

HOW TO NOSE GRIND - To nose grind approach from the standard 30 degree angle or less with SPEED. Speed is vitally important to your physical safety in both the k-grind and the nose grind. Be fast and confident. Ollie as you would normally and when you are over the rail continue the dragging action with the front foot after the peak of your ollie so that you are dragging the front foot and truck onto the rail. As you hit the rail, "push" the truck forward put maintain balance on the nose. When you nose momentum or come to the end of the rail, nollie off by jamming down the nose into the rail and simultaneously dragging the back foot up the board and riding away.

HOW TO K-GRIND (CROOKED GRIND)- Everything with this trick is fairly similar to the nosegrind except for these key elements. Firstly speed is even more important, and confidence is the key to pulling this trick well. Secondly, ollie at an angle onto the rail, with all other grinds you straighten the board up in the air, so that it's paralell to the rail, with this one you don't. Then at the right moment jam the front truck into the rail at an agle and grind along. Nollie out and roll away.
With this trick some people find it easier to nollie shuv-it out. This trick is with out a doubt the most popular grind around. Learn it now!

HOW TO POP SHUV-IT - The pop shuv-it is not a hard trick to do standing still but pulling it off when rolling at speed is quite difficult. To do a pop shuv-it roll along (or stand still) and begin as if you were to ollie. Drag your front foot up the board but drag it slightly over towards your body. Whilst doing this the back foot should be pushing the tail end of the board in an opposite direction to the front foot. The board should travel 180 degrees in the air ON THE WAY UP. It should be caught at the peak of height with both feet and stomped to the ground. A good pop-shuvit is caught and the very peak of it's flight and any good skater will do exactly that. You can see how this is done in the sequence above

HOW TO KICKFLIP - There is a lot of hype surrounding the kickflip and it is probably the most popular trick in skating today. The kickflip is a lot easier than many think. A KICKFLIP IS VERY, VERY SIMILAR TO AN OLLIE. Stand on the board as you would for an ollie, but have your front foot slightly more on the edge of the board.
Sky High Kickflip
Start the kickflip just as you would an ollie and drag the front foot straight up the board from it's starting position. (Just by doing this the board should flip in the air) When your foot reaches the kick drag it off the edge off the board to allow the deck to rotate freely. Once the deck has flipped over once, use your back foot to catch the deck. From here the front foot should be stomped back onto the deck, evening out your weight between both feet. Hit the ground and roll away! Catch the sequence above to get the idea.

HOW TO FAKIE KICKFLIP - lets look at this in stages
1) This trick is just like a normal kickflip, the only difference is your rolling fakie
2) First learn how to do fakie ollie kickflip
3) Ride along backward(fakie)and do a fakie ollie
4) As you are doing the ollie, move your foot as you would in a kickflip
5) Catch the board with either foott (advice on whether you should catch this with your front or back foot depends on which person you talk to) and level out.
6) Be sure to direct your feet to land on the truck bolts. Land and roll away
It must be noted that when a skater lands this trick their weight can be too far forward and the board will flip out from under them. To avoid this keep your weight evenly between both feet on landing.

HOW TO BACKSIDE 180 DEGREE KICKFLIP - The b/s kickflip is not an easy trick. Before even attempting this make sure you've got kickflips and backside 180s dialled, then this is what you do. Begin the kickflip motion as usual but begin to rotate your body backside. If you've done this then you'll probably rotate 90 degrees with your board flipping as usual. The tricky part is getting the next 90 degrees and this is how to do it. As you and your board rotate catch the board when it has completed about 3/4 of it's flip with your back foot, then with a sweeping motion drag it around the remaining amount. It is very hard to this trick by doing a kickflip varial then just throwing your body around 180 degrees. The key is how you catch the board. Catch it at an angle as you will be able to rotate it much easier than if it were paralell to the ground.

How to Heelflip - The heelflip is a great trick. A heelflip is flipping the board in the opposite direction to a kickflip. This trick is relatively simple however many people do it wrong and end up getting no where near. First things first. The heelflip requires exactly the same action as a kickflip but in the opposite direction. The only difference is where to place your feet when beginning a heelflip place your feet in exactly the same position as you would as ollie. Initiate the trick as you would an ollie however when dragging your foot up the board, drag your front foot OVER the board and up towards the nose. This should cause the board to flip and level out in a fluent motion ready to be caught with the back foot and rode away.
There are many errors that people make when trying this trick but here is the main two. DO NOT place your heel on the opposite side of your board. This will cause the board to flip behind you with no chance of pulling the trick off.
The second is that people don't concentrate on levitating the board into the air but focus all their efforts on getting the board to flip. Do this and the board will FLIP INTO YOUR BUTT. The ollie factor and the flipping factor are equally important in this trick. Flip on!

Before we start I just want to clear up one thing. A frontside flip, a frontside 180 kickflip and a frontside kickflip are exactly the same trick. Also a hardflip is where the board does half a backflip and half a kickflip, not a kickflip with the back foot as some people think. A pressure flip is where the board does a half backflip and half heelflip. Quite technical really. Now that that's outta the way here we go. . .
HOW TO FRONTSIDE FLIP - The frontside flip is a trick in which the board is kickflipped and spun 180 degrees whilst the rider turns in a frontside body varial . Sounds more complex than it is. I will describe my favourite method of performing this trick however it IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT the only way in can be executed. The trick is often flipped quite quickly and catching the board at the right moment is essential (much like the pop-shuvit). To do a frontside flip you need to be rolling along (it's very hard to pull of standing still) and place your feet in a "forward" angle i.e. facing more towards the nose than usual. Then pop the board with your back foot, get your front foot out of the way and spread your legs allowing the board to half backflip through your legs.Okay that's pretty easy, now's the hard part. When you get your front foot out of the way you need to drag it off the edge of the board, do this just right so the board flips over whilst backflipping, thus landing right way up.When the board is doing this, you, the skater are completing a body varial (a 180 dgree mid air spin). This is quite natural as all your momentum is moving in that direction, either clockwise (if you are goofy) or anti-clockwise (if you are natural). Catching the board in this trick ain't too hard, you've got a bit of time, so when the board finishes the rotation plant both feet on it, hold it to the ground and ride away! This isn't an easy trick and it's up there in difficulty with the 360 kickflip, just practise getting the board to rotate whilst backflipping and you'll have it in no time!
