"A Report From the ONTARIO CLEAN WATER ASSOCIATION"
THE APPLICATION:
The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) and the Regional
Municipality of Bayham (RMOB) were mandated to install
a new sewage collection system, which would pump sewage
to the Port Burwell Waste Water Purification Plant for
processing. This involved installation of sewage force-
mains, buildings and installation of six new sewage pum-
ping stations, and the retrofit of two existing float con-
trolled sewage pumping stations.
In addition, there was a desire to implement a state-of-
the-art SCADA system to control and monitor 8 new remote
sewage pumping stations from the Port Burwell station.
SIRRON SYSTEM's Dave Norris coordinated the electrical,
instrumentation and field wiring. SIRRON SYSTEMS Inc. a
turn-key instrumentation and integrading firm, was selec-
ted as the Integration Firm responsible for overall co-
ordination and integration of the new SCADA System.
THE RESULTS:
Using Control Microsystems' OPC communications server,
SIRRON SYSTEMS Inc. was now able to program and monitor
the remote SCADAPack's without interfering with the ope-
ration of the HMI Software. The other two OPC Server
Programs would not have allowed this flexibility.
The OPC Server is also performing at a satisfactory
polling rate, and all 8 remote stations can be updated
within seconds from 1 single location !
A special thanks to David Norris of SIRRON SYSTEMS Inc.
