George Washington Simmers
son of Daniel Simmers
and Margaret Stuart

One of the George Simmers' who appear in U.S. Census,
and other records, is the following:

George W. Simmers (George Washington Simmers),
was married Two times, and possibly more. First,
to Lizzy A. (?) Simmers, and the children of this union
were the following: James B. Simmers; George W. Simmers;
Sarah Simmers; Edward S. Simmers;
Thomas Willard ("Tim") Simmers; Mary E. Simmers, who
married Wallace Parfet; Hiram ("Hyde") Simmers; and
G. Murch Simmers!

He next married Elizabeth Henrietta (nee Kolb) Simmers,
and had two children:
Margaret, b. 1885 d. 1885; and
Charles Kolb Simmers, b. 6-25-1886, who married
+ Mabel Rose Edwards, of Harrisburg, and they had
three Children. (Mabel Edwards was daughter of
Thomas Edwards and Mary Harriet Phillips, of
Harrisburg.)

George W. (Washington) Simmers was the son of Daniel
Simmers, originally of Baltimore MD. and Margaret
Stuart, of Ireland. Margaret (nee Stuart) Simmers, later
married Richard C. Sheridan, and they had daughter,
Sarah Sheridan, who married John R. Hamilton, of Harrisburg,
and they had three children. John R. Hamilton was the
nephew of Richard C. Sheridan, and at one time lived with
Richard, as did John's mother Elezabeth A. Sheridan, in
Richard Sheridan's home. An address that appears common to
all of these people is 322 and 324 Hamilton, Harrisburg,
PA. Also there, addition to these, is a Mrs Mary Sheridan,
at the same address! At this time, it is unknown whether
she is Richard Sheridan's mother, sister, or perhaps,
the above mentioned wife, Margaret Stuart Simmers Sheridan?
It is possible that Margaret Stuart was named, Mary Margaret,
or Margaret Mary. There is some reason to believe that
Daniel Simmers and Richard Sheridan were in business
together, in Harrisburg, as either Simmers and Sheridan, or
Sheridan and Simmers, and that this business was either
as Grocers, or as distributors of Coal? Because Margaret
Stuart was married to both men, her children, George
Washington Simmers, and Sarah Sheridan were, therefore,
"half" brother and half sister, to one another!

Going on ....!

Daniel W. Simmers married Margaret Stuart.

(Daniel Simmers' Father is said to be Daniel,
also. In fact, the story goes that Daniel
Simmers had a son named, Daniel W. Simmers,
who had a son, George Washington Simmers!)

They had a son, George Washington Simmers,
born between 1846 and 1850, at Colebrook
Furnace, in Lebanon County, PA.

(OR maybe it was, Colerain Forge Twnship,
in Bedford County, PA! The Bedford CO. Census
of 1810, for Bedford Twnship, lists a
Daniel Simmers, with a wife and Two daughters.
The 1840 Census for Colerain Township, lists a
"Margaret Simmers", Age between 50 and 60,
apparently, living alone! We don't know if this
is her maiden name or married name? This is
6 to 10 years before George Washington Simmers
is thought to have been born!} [Bedford County,
PA, is also mentioned, prominantly, in accounts
of the George ("a german") Simmers (b.1756) and
Joseph Simmers, Family, found on its own Page,
on this site. Is there a connection between these
two Simmers Lines? We just don't know, yet! After
a Time, perhaps we will!]

George Washington Simmers
and 1st wife Lizzie A. (?) Simmers

1. James B.Simmers

3. Edward S. Simmers (May have died young?)

(married Grace Grayson) had
   1. Charles Simmers,
   2. Thomas Willard, and
   3. Richard Simmers
Thomas and Grace raised their Family in ID,
until just before WWII, when they all moved
to California!
7. Mary E. Simmers married Wallace Parfet,
who worked for the U.S. Government
 in D.C. lived at 3008 1/2 "N" Street,
 Washington, D.C.
{Parfet family were Welsh Coal Miners.
 from Lykins PA}
8. Sarah F. Simmers

George Washington Simmers married again
Elizabeth Henrietta "Lizzy" Kolb and had
two children, one of whom, a girl, died
young, and a boy, Charles Kolb Simmers.
Charles married Mabel Rose Edwards of
Harrisburg, and they had 3 children:
1. Richard Simmers, b. 1917
2. Charles Kolb Simmers, II, and
3. Margaret Lucille Simmers (Ellis).

Family of Tom Simmers, of California!

"I'm trying to link George Washington Simmers
to two Daniel Simmers, a father and son! One
is George's Father, the other, his Grandfather!
