against thier opponents, but sticking to it
well Sheffield came back to score two late goals

July 24th v Guiseley Fr away 2-3
A goal from Davenport set Club nicely on their
way, that until an 8th minute equaliser by the
home side, not to be undone however, Davenport

A United side starring many players from the area
in hot conditions beat Club 4-3.Davenport and Wood

who were never really in with a chance against a good
Ossett Town side about to start their first campaign
in the Northern Premier League.
August 11th v Sheffield Utd Fr home 0-0
A useful run out for both teams, as Club did well
to hold United to a 0-0 draw.
August 17th v Garforth League away 2-2
Flaherty opened for Garforth on 10 minutes, but
with Sheffield playing well an og by Danby levelled
on 17 minutes. Mick Godber put Club 2-1 up on 52
minutes, but Garforth rallied well to equalise on
63 from Bambrook.
August 21st v Bacup Boro' FACup away 2-2
A last minute equaliser saved Sheffield against a
Bacup team that impressed at times.
Bacup went 1-0 up on 3 minutes, and it took until
the 54th minute for Godber to equalise,on 73 minutes
it looked all over as tiring Club went 2-1 down to
a Taylor effort, but the never say die effort lead
to the 89th minute equaliser from Paul Wood.
August 25th v Bacup Boro' FACup replay home 4-0
Paul Wood scorer of 2 Sheffield goals distroyed
any Bacup hopes, Cartledge and Godber completed
the rout on an impressive Sheffield display.
August 30th v Brodsworth MW League away 1-1
September 5th v Brodsworth MW FA Cup home 1-0
A big crowd descended on the Don Valley stadium
to see Sheffield obtain a 1-0 win and obtain a
next round home tie against either Farsley Celtic
or Burscough on September 18th.
A headed goal by Godber on 64 minutes being the
decisive effort.
September 4th v Brodsworth MW FA Cup Home 1-0
A larger than usual Sunday crowd rose to the
occassion and saw Club beat a difficult Miners
Welfare side to slip into the next round.
September 8th v Armthorpe Wefare home 0-1
One of the more physical sides with a long term
balanced line up, and three points lost this
Wednesday evening. Welfare were the better on
the evening by matching club in every position
and were just about worth the win.
September 11th v Squires Gate FA Vase away 1-2
A day trip to Blackpool was not a happy one for club
a FA Vase exit occurred, the Club scorer Godber.
A game in which Gate probably just deserved victory
September 18th v Farsley Celtic FAC home 0-0
September 21st v Farsley Celtic FAC replay away 0-2
Two hard games for club, but despite loosing 2-0 to
a first half goal and then a late effort, Sheffield
aquitted themselves very well, almost matching
the Celtic in most departments, and at times in
command.
September 25th v Staveley Miners Welfare home 2-4
September 29th v Harrogate Railway home 5-0
A great way to lift ones self off the bottom of the
table, a 5-0 win.
Club totally dominated proceedings and goals from
Hoe 3 mins, Godber 52 mins, Wood 68, & 80 minutes,
and McKeever 85 minutes were enough to earn the
biggest win of the season yet.
October 2nd v Eccleshill Utd away 1-1
A tough encounter on an uneven pitch, United went 1-0
up on 42 minutes Cochrane from a free kick in which he
went clear.
However on 52 minutes Cartledge was felled in the area
and Godber slotted in from the spot.
October 5th v Arnold T away 1-2
An even match until Mitchell headed an opener for Town
on 43 minutes, matters were not helped by the sending
off of Faulkner on 75 minutes, and then Thorpes goal
the second for Arnold on 83 minutes.
Sheffield however came back strongly, and made some real
chances cumalating in a penalty by Godber on 88 minutes
after Booth was brought down.
October 16th v Selby Town away 3-0
Club proved much to strong for Selby in this match and
took the lead on 9 minutes a Cartledge effort, they
went further ahead on 36 minutes when Vine slammed in
the deserved second, and on 62 minutes ensured that their
superiorority told with a third goal this time from
Tomlinson.
October 23rd v Brodsworth Miners Welfare home 3-2
Another victory under clubs belt, Godber,Vine, and Wood
the Sheffield goal scorers,Welfare scored one in each
half to make a game of it Phillips, and Radford the
culprits, but realisticly Club never looked like loosing.
November 6th v Armthorpe Welfare away 1-1
Sheffield dominated the first half but can be displeased
with only a Godber goal on 20 minutes to show for the work.
This after a break away, and the keeper saving the first
effort, which Godber followed up.
The second half was slightly more even, and the equaliser
came on 68 minutes when Smith lobbed Dickins who was on
the advance to make it 1-1.
November 12th v Groves Social home SSC 5-2
A chance for the Boss to try out some other players but a
chance that could of gone wrong, as Socials Scott opened
the scoring with a back post header on 8 minutes.
However on 17 minutes an inswinging corner from Hawke
fooled all and sundry to creep in for the equaliser, and
a Shipstone cross saw Godber score five minutes later to
put Club 2-1 up.
A Dickins error on 46 minutes allowed Mitchell to nip in
and make it 2-2, but parity was soon restored as Vine put
Club 3-2 up soon after,Groves still battled away, and
it took a perfect cross from Godber to Hendersons head
to make it 4-2 on 82, and Hawke banged in the 5th in the
last minute to ensure a 5-2 win.
November 15th v Yorkshire Amateur home PC 1-1 aet
An early goal from Booker on 13 minutes looked to bode
well for Sheffield in this cup tie, however Yorkshire
never allowed Club to settle and on 68 minutes Price
landed the equaliser. Extra time did nothing to the score
and a replay now has to be overcome.
November 20th v North Ferriby Utd home 1-1
A slow starting match which picked up as the minutes went
by saw Club match Greens in all areas.Barnwell opened for
the Greens on 33 minutes, and they missed a number of
chances to add to that, allthough top scorer Flounders
was kept well marked. The equaliser richly deserved was
from Vine on 82 minutes and Sheffield had further late
opportunities to snatch a win, but 1-1 was eventually a
fair result.
November 24th v Glasshoughton Welfare home 4-3 L Cup
Sheffield aiming to extend the unbeaten run to eight games
managed to squeeze this League Cup win against championship
challangers Welfare.
Foc opened the scoring on 27 minutes for Welfare, a header
from the edge of the box,but Utley replied on 59 minutes
with an effort into the right hand corner,on 73 minutes
Elliott dipped a longshot past Dickins to put the visitors
back in the lead at 2-1.On 85 minutes a Godber 20 yarder
squared it a 2-2,and gave for extra time.
Club took control and on 96 minutes Godber forced himself
into the Welfare box from a Hawkes break, and forced the
third for Sheffield, and six minutes later nabbed his third
to make it 4-2.Although Rickers edged a Glasshoughton
effort on the whistle Club has won 4-3.
November 27th v Liversedge away 2-5
Well and truely beaten, but not in the first half as the 2-1
defecit would suggest, especially as Sheffield were 1-0 up on
eight minutes a Godber effort from a Shepston cross.
Carter equalised on 18 minutes, and Lawford made it 2-1 on 44
minutes. It was in the second half that it went wrong as
Kenton netted on 55, followed by a Stewart red card on 58
minutes leaving Club a man short.
Liversedge added the 4th on 65 minutes,when O'Hara headed
in,and on 72 minutes a Godber effort gave club a small
chance of recovery. But Dodsworth finished the contest in
the 88th minute to ensure a 5-2 Liversedge win.
December 1st v Arnold Town home 3-2 L Cup
It was Davis that opened the scoring for Arnold on 17 minutes
,but Vine pranged the equaliser on 41 minutes to ensure a
fair share of the spoils in the first half,or so the crowd
thought, but March had other ideas as some neat work saw a
keeper error and a 44th minute goal a 2-1 Sheffield lead.
In the second half Arnold pushed forward for the leveller
and on 88 minutes it came as Maddison forced this match
into extra time.
It was all on for a 2-2 after time until Godber hit a mighty
30 yard volley for the Sheffield winner with barely two
minutes to go,
December 4th v Thackley home 5-0
A brilliant show by Club, but it took until the 32nd
minute to open as Utley drove in, Godber a goal each
side of half time within a minute ended this as a
contest to put Sheffield 3-0 up, Hawke added later on
and an own goal finished off the score as Club swept
forward to win 5-0.
December 8th v Denaby United away 2-5 SSC
Well beaten by firstly the need to sacrifice home advantage
then a masterfull Gray who took a hatrick in this match.
Grays efforts on 15 minutes from a Hodgeson cross, and
then on 68 and 78 minutes killef Club off.
Although Godber equalised on 38 minutes an injury to
keeper Dickins,March taking over didn't help.
Lee Hirst put United 2-1 up on 42 minutes,Wood equalised
on 48 minutes,then a spectacular overhead 53 minute goal
put Denaby 3-2 up,for Gray to finish with two,to give a 5-2
scoreline.
January 8th v Buxton away 1-2
Bottom of the table Buxton pulled all the stops out to win
this by going 2-0 up by half time Poole on 14 and 45 minutes.
Club pulled one back with a Wood tap in on 57,but the home
defence held firm to give a 2-1 win to Buxton.
January 11th v Yorkshire Amateur away 1-0 P Cup
A hard fought win for club whos only goal came from Utley
with a 30 yard effort,Club now face Glapwell in the QF.
January 15th v Harrogate Railway away 2-1
Two goals from Godber and Shipston were enough to edge
Sheffield to three points,as a determined and battling
Railway side made it very difficult for Sheffield.
February 5th v Brigg Town home 2-3
With players out through injury or suspension selection
was a little different, however Club just about matched
Brigg except when infront of goal., which lead to an
Allen goal after only 7 minutes for Brigg.
However within minutes a Shipston header had levelled
things from a Slowe cross.
A dubious penalty decision in which Towns Ward saw
his effort saved by Dickinson, lead to more Club
attacks, and a minute before the break Godber turn
and volley in his 26th of the season.
The second half saw Brigg come out with more urgency
and Roach, on 47 and Carter 62 minutes ensured the
Town win, Godber blasted over in the half but by then
the leaders Brigg had secured the points.
February 8th v Glapwell PC away 0-3
A deserved win by second in the First Division Glapwell
as the Derbyshire side were better organised and put
more effort on a wet surface.Morgan opened the scoring
on 29 minutes, then added to by Howard 70 mins, and
Clarke 78 minutes.
February 12th v Maltby Main away 1-0
A hodoo ground, Muglet and it almost proved so again
as Club struggled against a dour Main side.
Chances were more in the second half but nothing went
in the net which was just as well that Shipston hit
a low drive into the net on half time.
February 19th v Arnold Town home 1-1
A rather eventless match, with Archer putting Town
1-0 up on 14 minutes, having pounced on a loose ball.
The leveller coming on 59 minutes, when a Hawke
cross had a touch from Gunn and sailed in.
Further efforts from Godber, and Baxter did nothing
to alter the score and the points were shared.
March 4th v Hallam home 1-1
The oldest derby match in the world proved to be more
of a damp squib, previous rain making the pitch very
wet, and it suited Hallam more as they went into a 1-0 lead
on 15 minutes, when Worsfold hit in from a sharp corner.
Hallams pressure continued, and this lead to Capper
being sent off for a late challange on 40 minutes.
The second half began with Uttley 25 yard effort nearly
being the equaliser, then a Worsfold effort nearly edging
in for Hallam, the Club equaliser came on 57 minutes when
Shipstone took controlled, and hit into the net..
Late efforts from Godber, and a volley from Vine never went
in so a 1-1 draw was the fair outcome.
March 8th v Liversedge L Cup QF home 5-4 aet
A spectacular and quality game, which saw Club overcome
a vibrant Liversedge to reach the League Cup semi finals
Toronczak on 13 minutes blasted Liversedge into a 1-0 lead,
Eight minutes later Godber thundered the Club equliser,, and
seven minutes later he put Club 2-1 up.
On 54 minutes Godber completed his hatrick with a penalty
Sheffield were 3-1 up and coasting.
59 minutes Dyson pulled one back for a now lifted Liversedge
and on 69 minutes,Toronczak hit his second and the Sedge
equliser,to ensure extra time.
94 minutes Davenport put Club back in the lead, and on 102
minutes Stewart put club 5-3 up.
But Liversedge still wouldn't lat down, and Toronczak on 106
minutes completed his trio, and brought it back to 5-4,leaving
the Sheffield fans nervously awaiting the final whistle as Sedge
pilled on the pressure, but to no avail.
March 11th v Buxton home 0-0
A poor game with little or no goalmouth action to satisfy the
slightly larger crowd then usual
March 18th v Thackley away 2-0
Thackley are a struggling side with no confidence and Club
took full advantage to win well 2-0.
Goals coming from Cartledge on 63 minutes, and Hawke with
three minutes left on the clock.
March 25th v Selby Town home 1-1
An exciting if slightly one sided game towards Club
especially in the first half where Godber from a
Davenport cross headed onto the bar after 1 minute,
Vine who lobbed the keeper to see his shot only
just miss on 3 minutes, but as time went on Selby
pulled the game round and Collier had a 25yd effort
crash against the post for Selby on 44 minutes.
The second half was a much more even affair, when
on 70 minutes, Cygon leapt onto a loose ball in
the box to open for Town.
The game continued evenly and Godber was put through
on 85 minutes only to be pulled back, taking the
resultant penalty,he equalised.
April 1st v Alfreton Town home 1-1
A match in which Club just had the edge but in the
first half Town were just a little sharper with
their direct running.
Alfreton opened on 18 minutes from a free kick
Hopkinson headed past Sheffield keeper however it
only took 14 minutes for Club to equalise when a
Godber cross flashed in for Vine to control and
hit in the left of the net.
The second half was again a lively affair, but no
more goals.
April 5th v Garforth Town LCup SF home 2-3
Club began well, but it was Town that opened the scoring
on 27 minutes, when a Baldwin throw found Higginbottom
in space to score.
Shortly later Utley hit a 20yd shot wide for Club, and
the game continued end to end.
Sullivan was sent off for Town, yet Woodhead still put
Garforth 2-0 up from a cross, only for Godber to make it
1-2 ,then Vine to draw level, for extra time looking
likely.
However an 88th minute flick after Club defensive errors
allowed Stevenson room to score the Town winner on 88
minutes.
April 8th v Ossett Albion away 1-3
A poor result for club as Albion avenged an earlier loss
against Club.
The rot started after 3 minutes,w when Watts scored the
opener for Albion, and in the 63rd minute Amos added a
second goal. The last goal came from Adams on 89 minutes,
and despite a Hawke effort in the 90th minute Club were
well and truely beaten.
May 2nd v Denaby United away 0-3
Club were well beaten by a Denaby side that stormed into a 3-0 lead
at half time.
Although Club tightened up in the second half, on an uneven pitch a
recovery was never on the cards.
