What is the Pokémon: Neo Genesis expansion?
Neo Genesis is the next generation of all-new Pokémon and includes Darkness, Metal, and Baby Pokémon. The Neo Genesis expansion features a special Trainer card type, called Pokémon Tools, that you can attach to Basic Pokémon cards to affect game play.
Will the Neo Genesis expansion be the same as the first Japanese Neo set?
No. Just as many of the previous sets we have translated have been a little different, you can expect to be surprised by some of the cards in the Neo Genesis set.
Are the two new Energy types, Darkness and Metal, considered basic Energy cards?
No. Darkness and Metal Energy cards are non-basic Energy cards, as they have additional effects, like Potion Energy or Full Heal Energy. Darkness and Metal are considered basic energy types though, so a Rainbow Energy card will count as these types as well as the other basic types (fire, water, etc.).
If a Baby Pokémon evolves into a basic Pokémon (for example, Pichu to Pikachu), is the Basic Pokémon now considered an Evolved Pokémon?
Yes, it is, though you can still play any Basic Pokémon by itself, without having its Baby Pokémon in play.
Can I use Neo Genesis expansion cards with cards from previous sets?
Yes, you can! You will even find some new Evolution cards for some of your favorite older Pokémon cards, like Oddish to Gloom and Baby Cleffa to Clefairy.
I've heard the cards look different from those in previous sets. Will playing with the new and older cards together be a problem?
No, the card backs remain the same while the fronts of the cards have a new look to them. The Neo Genesis cards contain all of the information found on previously released cards. |
