Today was the final day of the Premier League season, with little to play for as Rangers had won the Championship with four games to go. Only a place in the UEFA Cup was up for grabs between Hearts and Motherwell. Despite Motherwell beating Champions Rangers 2-0, it was all to no avail as Hearts beat Hibs 2-1 in the Edinburgh derby to claim the European spot.
Results:

Celtic 2 Dundee Utd 0
Dundee 0 Aberdeen 2
Motherwell 2 Rangers 0
Kilmarnock 3 St. Johnstone 2
Hearts 2 Hibs 1

Rangers are Champions, with Celtic Runners Up. Rangers enter the European Champions League next season, Celtic are in the UEFA Cup, along with Hearts and Aberdeen, who although they finished bottom of the League, will qualify because they contest the Cup Final with Champions Rangers on Saturday 27th May, and qualify by default.
Kilmarnock may also be in the UEFA Cup via the Fair Play League. They top the ratings in Scotland and Scotland is second in the All Europe ratings. The place will be decided by ballot in two weeks.
Due to League reconstruction there was no relegation from the Premier League.

Promoted from Division One Champions: St. Mirren and Runners Up: Dunfermilne Athletic
Relegated: Clydebank

Promoted to Division One: Division Two Champion s: Clyde, along with Alloa Athletic and Ross County
Relegated: Hamilton Academicals

Promoted to Division Two: Division Three Champions: Queens Park, along with Berwick Rangers and Forfar Athletic.

New League Members next season: Peterhead and Elgin City from the Highland League

Celtic won the Scottish League Cup
Rangers and Aberdeen will contest the Scottish Cup on May 27th.


Motor Racing
Sunday 21st May 2000
Scotsman David Coulthard finished third in a McLaren, in The Formula One Grand Prix of Europe at the Nurburgring in Germany. The race was won by Germany's Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari and Second in a Mc Laren Mikka Hakinnen of Finland, the defending World Champion.
Schumacher still leads the World Championship.

The Scottish Claymores lost 31-30 to Frankfurt Galaxy in overtime. After being down 24-7 at half time they fought back in the last two quarters losing narrowly.
Scotland are now one of 4 teams who are 3 and 3 along with Barcelona, Berlin and Amsterdam, but retain second place in the league on points difference.
Rhein Fire lead on 4 and 2, Frankfurt are bottom on 2 and 4.
