Federal edict seeks home care for many disabled
White House orders states
to comply with Supreme Court ruling
FROM SPOKANE.NET
Robert Pear - New York Times

The following are articles or
resources to information
that are worth reading.
A good grasp of the political issues
and how the system works could
be invaluable to those who
interested in advocating
for issues concerning the elderly.
For those of us who
feel there are "glitches," to say the least,
in the system
protecting the elderly and their families,
the time has come for us to realize
that if
'nothing changes, nothing changes.'
Ultimately, all of us will,
in all probablility "grow old".
What kind of life would you want?
If it is not locked away in some
so-called Alzheimer's special care unit,
waiting to die or with little money to
be able to purchase the health care we need,
then it is necessary that
we start now and work hard
to create the kind of world we would like.
It is time that we accept
"zero tolerance" for less
than quality and humane
care for elderly.
This page is a compilation
of resources and information that will
help others along that path.
The purpose is for
research or information and does not
necessarily reflect
the opinions of "Saving Grace"
Please let us know of other sites
or issues that might be helpful.

"Hundreds of times during the past 10 years,
federal agents and prosecutors have
pursued justice by breaking the law.
They lied, hid evidence, distorted facts,
engaged in cover-ups, paid for perjury
and set up innocent people
in a relentless effort to win indictments,
guilty pleas and convictions,
a two-year Post-Gazette investigation found."

IDEAS TO PONDER
"DOES AMERICA HAVE A SOUL"
By Thomas More
Search in Archives
"Deep in American life lies a dormant soul,
almost obliterated by politicians and the media
that consider it too lowly and
weak for serious attention.
This soul is powerful, not in a political or military sense,
but because of its capacity for imagination and passion.
To effect a deep change in culture
would require a refusal of the status quo
and the courageous application of tolerant
and community-minded vision.
We could all find in our hearts
the ancient contemptus mundi that might
inspire us to give less to the lure of
a technological future and more to our children,
our homes and land, our marriages,
and those small, intimate details of everyday life
that in being nothing
special give us back our souls."
