Duo Maxwell is a rather manic, bi-polar person. He can be lots of fun; he's talkative, he likes to joke around (and loves to make fun of Heero). But then, in battle, he becomes extremely arrogant about his fighting ability and he labels himself the "God of Death."

There is a definite reason Duo took on this dark persona. His friend Solo died while they were living on the streets. After Duo stayed at the Maxwell church for a while, everyone in the orphanage (except him, naturally) was killed. Thus, Duo came to the conclusion that anyone who met him would end up dead.

He's an exceptional pilot, and his gundam is extraordinary!But perhaps what's even more special about Duo is his ability to befriend people. Enemies, comrades--it makes no difference. One of his close friends, Hilde Schbeiker, he met when she was with Oz. Within days he had her convinced that Oz's methods were not necessarily the right path to peace.
