| the inner senshi were the first to actually play a part in Sailor Moon. i am going to start with sailor moon, and work my way down in order. TSUKINO USAGI {serena} (sailor moon): serena is a reincarnation of the princess of the moon who, in the 30th century, becomes neo-queen serenity of crystal tokyo. she is the daughter of queen serenity, a kind and loving mother who ruled the entire universe from the moon kindom in the silver millennium. serena transforms into the justice fighter sailor moon, the leader of all the sailor scouts, and one of the most powerful as well. initially serena refused to accept her role as sailor moon, but eventually realized that she could not escape destiny, and embraced her responsibility to humankind. although serena posesses many qualities unbecoming to her status (she is lazy, clumsy, ditzy, gluttonous, and often pathetic), her heart and soul are pure, and she has sacrificed herself countless times for others. serena may drool over every gorgeous guy she meets, but her heart belongs to darien (known as prince darien or prince endymion of earth during the silver millennium). darien used to tease serena about her hairstly by calling her "meatball head" ("odango atama" or "dumpling head" in japanese), but later uses the nickname as a term of endearment. in the japanese version, darien (mamoru) affectionately refers to serena (usagi) as "usako". in 30th century crystal tokyo, serena rules the earth as neo-queen serenity with her husband, king darien (king endymion). MIZUNO AMI (sailor mercury): ami is the second senshi to be uncovered by luna. she is the most "book-smart" of them all. she like to study and get good grades. she enjoys being with her freinds and is very loyal. her mother was a pediatrition, and ami hopes to be one too. ami has only one romantic interest: Greg-the carrier of a rainbow crystal. while the other inner senshi are busy chasing andrew (motoki) and darien (the ever-wonderful mamoru), she is very serious about fighting evil. at one point, ami gets a chance to study abroad, specifically in Germany. she decides that her friends are more important than her studies. HINO REI (sailor mars): rei lives with her grampa, the priest of Hikawa Jinja, where rei is a mika (shinto priestess). rei's mom died when she was very young, and her father is a politician, often away on business. rei is a psychic. she "reads" fire, and uses ofuda, shinot scrolls charged with holy energy which can be used to paralyze or exorcise demons. midway through the show, rei dates darian briefly. this only causes the friction between serena and rei to get worse. these two catfight about something in almost every show, but deep-down, they are closer than sisters. rei is a talented singer/songwriter. she even puts on a show at her school (a private catholic school) where she's the star, of course. KINO MAKOTO {lita} (sailor jupiter): lita is the fourth scout to be awakened by luna. she was kicked out of her old school for fighting, and transferred to crossroads junior high (juuban). she is very athletic, and an excellent cook. lita is normally very level-headed, but put a cute guy in front of her, and she's immediately thinking about one of her old boyfriends! AINO MINAKO {mina} (sailor venus): minako has a more open personality than anyone else. she can be friendly with everyone. she will show genuine concern of the spiritual well-being of anyone, especially usagi (serena). she has no enemies, but that doesn't mean she can't do her own share in combat. in order to make friends, she often uses the playful (non-mischevious) approach to making friends. sailor venus is somewhat special in the senshi story line. she is sailor v. sailor v was created before sailor moon, so minako doesn't always fit in with the sailor moon patterns. TSUKINO CHIBI-USA {rini} (sailor chibi {mini} moon): just to clear up all the goddamned confusion, chibi-usa's name is actually usagi, but in order not to mix them up, the younger calls herself chibi-usa, meaning little usagi. in sailor moon R, chibi-usa goes back to tokyo in the past to try to get the silver crystal and save her mummy (mommy, i say that because of my accent) which happens to be usagi in the future as serenity along with the entirety of crystal tokyo. at the end of R she comes back to start to train as a sailor scout. hence the "chibi (mini)" thing she got goin on. in S she befriends hotaru, and that is pretty much it. in SS she plays a major role. she is the one that pegasus a.k.a. helios knows, loves, and trusts (oops! i just gave something away! gomen nasai {sorry}). |
