Where I was born
I was born at a place south of the equator
Born at home near the prestigious black rock
Born without boundary
Born without fear and
Born with no testimonial, but
Today borders everywhere and one cannot travel without one
I was born as a free child
Today children are not free
Home without country and
A country without home
Born to rule but there is no palace to rule
Born with home
Today there is no where to go
In the year I was born
There was enough food to feed
Plenty to grow and
Sizeable portion to yield
What has happened to thee?
Poverty and greed battered your conscience
Even as I make home there is no peace
People perish in the name of religion or ethnic hatred
All in vain they destroy each other, as
Life is something not worth living
Travesty and injustice manifest themselves everywhere
For what magnificent entered your shattered brain?
Of all people deputised on earth
Is there any from amongst you that has least care
And respect for the needy, the downtrodden
And the least privilege members of society?
Nay, the answer is right
Behold for a while
Insecurity and uncertain disgrace shall be your resting place!
I can smell my home somewhere above the horizon hence
I shall find blissful peace
