Thy eagle so mighty and glory
Flying high above for all to see
Secure and mighty, by God's grace
As it rise high above the sky
Oh my country,
United by two rivers
You once were that eagle
Flying high towards glory
To ascend in pride and dignity
For what afflicted your honour
That you were so unjustly thrown out of enriched
Clear sky?
On earth you decended even amongst the poorest
You are poor, wings clipped,
Obsequiousness what you tend to say
Your words carry no weight anymore
Even amongst your counterparts
Your action or inaction ignored and
Happy you are not and
You failed to revitalise yourself
Are you eagle or flying elephant
That fail to grow?
You quarrel among yourselves and even kill one another
In the name of creed or belief
Why manifest yourself in this form?
Was it for this you were made a nation
For rest of the world to see?
You seldom let your race to shame
Arise and take the flag!
Equip yourself with wings to fly
You destitude and deprived creatures
Yield this land for a hundred years to grow
And beautify the names of Your Lord
High and Mighty
For He shall call you to account
On the Day when big palaces and parapanalia
Shall not give you shelter or peace
Remember He alone, created you
And those before you
Which of His favours do you denied?
Behold!
Earth, your destiny
Remember not
Oh my countrymen and women!
Remember the cries of the fable, destitude, old and children?
Therein lies oil, gas, precious metals and stones, manpower and
Beautiful lands and climatic conditions devoid
Of earthly mother nature
Which of the bounties of God do you denied?
