THE WB 2000-2001 PRIMETIME SCHEDULE Part 2

8:00-9:00 p.m. "GILMORE GIRLS"
A light-hearted, multi-generational drama with comedic qualities about friendship, family and the ties that bind set in an idyllic Connecticut town, "Gilmore Girls" is the first series to make it to air supported by the Family Friendly Programming Initiative's script development fund. Thirty-two-year-old Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham, "Conrad Bloom," "Townies") has made her share of mistakes in life, and she's doing her best to see that her 16-year-old daughter Rory (newcomer Alexis Bledel) doesn't follow in her every footstep, though they are often mistaken for sisters or best friends. Rory's acceptance into the prestigious Chilton Prep in nearby Hartford is a giant step in the right direction. However, this opportunity forces Lorelai to swallow her pride and ask her old-fashioned, old-money parents (Edward Herrmann, "The Practice"; Kelly Bishop, "Dirty Dancing") for financial help with the tuition, and they in turn, ask to be a part of their granddaughter's life. Thus far, Lorelai has managed to raise Rory on her own and build a career as the manager of the quaint Independence Inn with the dream of one day opening her own bed-and-breakfast. The series also stars Alex Borstein ("Mad TV"), Keiko Agena ("Felicity") and newcomer Yanic Truesdale. This heartfelt one-hour drama was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino ("Roseanne") who serves as executive producer with Gavin Polone ("Stir of Echoes," "Drop Dead Gorgeous") for Warner Bros. Television.

9:00-10:00 p.m. "Charmed"
Returning for its third season on The WB, the series stars Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano. Aaron Spelling, E. Duke Vincent, Constance M. Burge and Brad Kern serve as executive producers on the series produced by Spelling Television, Inc.

8:00-8:30 p.m. "SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH"
Melissa Joan Hart brings her unique magic to The WB this fall when "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," the hit series with young adults and the number one-ranked show among female teens, begins its fifth season. As she begins her new life as a college student, Sabrina gets her first taste of independence. With new friends and newfound freedom, Sabrina will be faced with all of the challenges of young adulthood, but life becomes a touch more complex when one happens to be a witch. While having fun is still her credo, Sabrina will explore new relationships and discover that casting a spell is not always the answer to her problems. Paula Hart serves as executive producer along with Bruce Ferber ("Home Improvement"), and "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" is produced by Hartbreak Films in association with Viacom Productions Inc.

8:30-9:00 p.m. "GROSSE POINTE"
Darren Star, the creator/executive producer of "Sex and the City," "Melrose Place" and "Beverly Hills, 90210," takes a satirical look at the very genre that made him famous and launched The WB into pop culture with a hilarious comedy about what really goes on behind the scenes of television's hottest teen drama. The onscreen melodrama is nothing compared to what happens when the cameras stop rolling on the fictitious primetime soap Grosse Pointe. Shot in a realistic, single-camera style, the half-hour comedy series "Grosse Pointe" follows the lives of six young actors, played by Kohl Sudduth ("Bowfinger"), Irene Molloy, Al Santos, Kyle Howard ("The Love Boat: The Next Wave"), Lindsay Sloane ("Sabrina, The Teenage Witch") and Bonnie Somerville ("Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story"), trying to adjust to the demands of instant stardom. The pilot presentation was directed by Andrew Fleming ("Dick," "The Craft"), and executive produced by Darren Star for Artists Television Group.

9:00-10:00 p.m. "Popular"
Returning for its second season on The WB, the series stars Leslie Bibb, Carly Pope, Tamara Mello, Christopher Gorham, Sara Rue, Bryce Johnson, Tammy Lynn Michaels, Ron Lester, Leslie Grossman, Lisa Darr and Scott Bryce. Greer Shephard, Michael Robin and Ryan Murphy serve as executive producers on the series produced by Ryan Murphy Productions/Roundtable Ink and The Shephard/Robin Company in association with Touchstone Television.

MID-SEASON REPLACEMENT SERIES

DEAD LAST - From the writers of "Grosse Pointe Blank" and "High Fidelity" comes an original one-hour comedic thriller about the invisible world all around us-the one populated by the ephemeral denizens we call ghosts. With an attitude and style all its own, "Dead Last" chronicles the misadventures of a struggling rock band (The Problem) on the verge of being discovered when they make a discovery of their own-an ancient amulet that gives them the unwanted power to see the spirits that walk among us. Suddenly, their popularity skyrockets (if only with the dead) as they find themselves stuck with the unwelcome task of helping an endless parade of apparitions move on to the next world, while still trying to keep the band together. The series stars Kett Turton, Tyler Labine ("Breaker High") and Wayne Pére ("Pirates of Silicon Valley"). Created by Steve Pink, D.V. de Vincentis and Patrick O'Neill, the series is from Warner Bros. Television.

THE JAMIE FOXX VARIETY SHOW - Actor, musician, singer and comedian, Jamie Foxx ("The Jamie Foxx Show," "Any Given Sunday") is a man of unlimited talents. Foxx currently serves as co-creator and executive producer on "The Jamie Foxx Show," returning this fall for its fifth season. Now, he and The WB have teamed up again to create a variety show that will give the star a chance to cut loose in a way that fans haven't seen since his star-making turn on "In Living Color." A host as adept at improv as he is at the keyboards, Foxx brings to his new show a unique balance of the hottest music, no-holds-barred comedy and a diverse ensemble cast and guests. Foxx serves as executive producer along with Marcus King for Warner Bros. Television.

THE OBLONGS - Executive producer Bruce Helford ("The Drew Carey Show," "Norm") and writer/executive producer Jace Richdale ("The Simpsons") bring to animated life the strange world of underground cartoonist Angus Oblong (Creepy Susie and 13 Other Tragic Tales for Troubled Children). With laser-focused social satire, this half-hour comedy depicts the warped world of a bizarre yet loving family of have-nots who can't seem to beat the caste system of their hometown's beautiful people living high on the hill. Oddly relatable misfits, the Oblong clan lives in a toxic valley downstream from your typical industrial waste site which has caused a variety of bizarre physical and emotional abnormalities. Headed by the loving, limbless, tirelessly upbeat patriarch Bob Oblong (voiced by Will Ferrell, "Saturday Night Live") and his adoring, alcohol- and tobacco-addicted, bald but beautifully wigged wife Pickles (voiced by Jean Smart, "Designing Women"), the family includes youngest son Milo (voiced by Pamela Segall Adlon, "King of the Hill"), a one-haired optimist who has every childhood emotional disorder and behavioral problem ever diagnosed; conjoined twins Biff and Chip (voiced by Jason and Randy Sklar, "Apt. 2F"); and four-year-old daughter Beth (voiced by Jeannie Elias, "Quack Pack"), sporting a cucumber-like growth sprouting from her head. The series also features voice actors Lea Delaria ("Plump Fiction"), Becky Thyre ("The Brady Bunch -- The Musical") and Billy West ("Ren & Stimpy"). Co-created by Richdale and Oblong, the series is executive produced by Helford, Richdale and Deborah Oppenheimer ("The Drew Carey Show," "Norm"), for Oblongs Productions in association with Mohawk Productions Inc. and Jobsite Productions, distributed by Warner Bros. Television.

SUMMER PROGRAMMING

BABY BLUES - With a worldwide readership of 62 million, the award-winning comic strip comes to life in this new animated half-hour comedy with stories for the whole family exposing the humorous underbelly of suburban parenting. This irreverent new series follows the daily exploits of Darryl (voiced by Mike O'Malley, "28 Days," "Deep Impact") and Wanda (voiced by Julia Sweeney, "Saturday Night Live," "God Said Ha!") MacPherson. A career couple in their late 20s recently transformed into two well-intentioned but weary young parents, the MacPhersons are dealing with the pressures of their new little bundle of joy, Zoe (voiced by E.G. Daily, "Rugrats," "Babe: Pig in the City"); their mismatched neighbors (voiced by Joel Murray, "Dharma & Greg" and Arabella Field, "Godzilla") who serve as a shining example of how not to raise a child; the neighbors' 8-year-old hellion (voiced by Kath Soucie, "Rugrats"), who controls both sides of the fence; Zoe's terminally hip baby-sitter (voiced by Nicole Sullivan, "Mad TV"); and Darryl's best friend at work (voiced by Diedrich Bader, "The Drew Carey Show"). Phil LaMarr ("Mad TV") also lends his voice to the series. Developed and executive produced by Jeff Martin ("The Simpsons") and Pete Ocko ("Weird Science," "Dinosaurs"), and based on the comic strip from Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott who serve as co-executive producers, the series is produced by Warner Bros. Television.

YOUNG AMERICANS - Blue blood meets blue collar and town clashes with gown in this provocative new one-hour drama series starring an exciting cast of newcomers, including Rodney Scott as Will Krudski, who recently appeared in three episodes of "Dawson's Creek" for a special cross promotion between the two shows. Set at a New England boarding school, this series unfolds at the start of a new summer session, when kids who come from different pasts and face uncertain futures are thrown together to prepare for the rest of their lives. As they shoot their arrows high and go through rites of passage with no parents in sight, these strangers become friends, and along the way they learn about passion, the potential for greatness, the power of love, friendship, trust, dreams and the need to make every moment count. The series also features Mark Famiglietti ("Hang Time") as the Kennedy-esque Scout Calhoun, Kate Bosworth ("Remember the Titans") as the luminous local girl Bella Banks, Ian Somerhalder as the edgy Dean's son Hamilton Fleming, Katherine Moennig as the mysterious Jake Pratt, and new cast member Edward Quinn as Finn, the teacher who hopes to inspire them. Created by feature film writer Steven Antin ("Inside Monkey Zetterland"), who serves as executive producer along with Joe Voci and Scott Sanders, the series is produced by Mandalay Television in association with Columbia TriStar Television.
