MAKER OF THE ROSE
I must pick the thorns
with the flowers,
though they pierce
and pain my soul;
but God,
the maker of the rose,
can make my spirit whole.

IF ROSES GREW IN HEAVEN.
If roses grow in Heaven,
Lord, please pick a bunch for me,
place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES
It's from the dirt that life is born
It starts one day in the early morn
You remove the rocks and turn the soil
You'll get your reward for all your toil
Now smooth the dirt and dig a hole
Plant the bulb and form the knoll
Give it some water, now wait for a while
Pull out the weeds and watch with a smile
Stay with it for a while it's starting to grow
You'll get your reward it's starting to show
Your plant is maturing and is growing quite high
Soon it will be budding, how the times flying bye
You look out one day knowing it will bloom
There will be enough flowers for every room
God gives us rewards for the work that we do
Sometimes it's a rose covered in morning dew
But if you get so busy that time passes you by
You will miss your reward and soon start to cry
So if you have anything that's important to you
Know that God is the key and has left you this clue
USE YOUR TIME WISELY NO MATTER HOW SMALL
STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES IT'S YOUR TIME AFTER ALL

A DOZEN ROSES
I got a dozen roses
From a friend the other day;
But I only have 1 left,
For I gave them all away.
I gave one to my sister,
Who to me is very dear,
In hopes that it will bring to her
A little floral cheer.
I took one to a friend
Who's not feeling very well;
The flower or the visit -
Which helped more I could not tell.
One went to a friend
I haven't known so very long
She struggles, so in some small way,
I hope this helps her carry on.
The rest went to the ones
Who've helped me in so many ways;
They have been a cheerful presence
On my dreary days.
The roses were so pretty
I just could not keep them all
Except one single bud standing
Beautiful and tall.
My friend gave me the flowers
To help brighten up my day,
But the biggest joy I received,
Was giving them away.

DADDY'S GARDEN
Early in the morning you'd see him patiently
working in his garden that he loved so much.
In my minds eye I still can see him giving care
to every growing thing with his loving touch.
Just like the care he gave to me as a little girl
with lots of tenderness and love.
Only a precious man like him could come
from the father above.
Working in his garden gave daddy lots of joy
and as I watched things grow,
I knew that I wanted to be just like dad
for I sure did love him so.
Dads favorite song was I Come To the Garden alone.
I thank you dear Lord for giving to me as a
earthly father the greatest man I've ever known.
If roses bloom in heaven
I believe he's taking care of them
for all the saints to see.
The gardening here will continue
for that great gift was also instilled in me.
Daddy I will plant the garden
just like you liked to do.
And when my gardening seasons over here
I'll be up there with you.

Dedicated to my Dad
who loved his gardening and is sadly missed.
But I'll see him in heaven some day.
UNFOLDING THE ROSEBUD
It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
God opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

MORNING MEMORIES
Waking at the break of morning,
Opening my eyes, I clearly see,
Images of only you and me.
Throughout the day I reflect on you,
Rose petal softness touched by morning dew.
Your swan like grace and ornamental poise,
Give splendor and unite all life's joys.
Together combined, are strength and grace,
Bound by love to win life's race.
And in the shadows of my mind,
you and me together are what I find.
