LOOK UP
I stopped by a little church early today.
I stopped to check directions to find my way.
I stopped and looked around at the hills of clay.
I stopped and decided to look up and pray.
On the church there was a steeple of white.
A top the steeple a cross, the resting-place of a bird in flight.
A tiny bird sat on this cross at such a great height.
The steeple, the cross with the bird on top, it all seemed right.
In a tree by this church was a leaf of golden brown.
As the wind caught the leaf, it drifted to the ground.
Below a Wal-Mart bag of blue, blew round and round.
The leaf came to rest on the plastic bag, not making a sound.
In the sky above an airplane soared high,
The silver bird left white streaks behind as it did fly.
There was a cloud drifting about in the bright autumn sky.
The cloud drifted until it seemed to rest on the streak by and by.
Across the road an abandoned building sat all alone.
Above the building were wires that once serviced lights and a phone.
The tin roof shone bright red today as the morning came to dawn.
In the past on this roof rain and snow had fallen and bright sunlight had shone.
Early today I thought about the wooden cross and the plastic sack.
I thought of the bird, the leaf, the cloud, and the sun as I looked back.
I thought of the streaks made from smoking gas and the roof made from tin.
I thought of how God’s creations had come to rest on the creations of men.
Right before my eyes God and man’s creations seem to have met:
As on the cross on the steeple the little bird had set,
As the fluffy white cloud floating in the sky,
Came to rest on the airplane streak by and by,
As the leaf of golden brown,
Landed on the blue Wal-Mart sack on the ground,
As the morning sun did shine it’s light,
On the tin roof of the old building ever so bright.
God’s creations always seem to rest on man’s
In all things man creates we can see God’s hand.
Long ago God’s perfect creation came down to earth.
Long ago the Son of God through a virgin was birthed.
He lived and walked about as a mortal man.
He felt pain and joy; it was all God’s plan.
He lived as man until the age of thirty-three.
He lived as man until it was time for Him to set all men free.
God’s creation came to rest on something made of man,
A man made cross was lifted, fulfilling God’s plan.
Man shouted, ”Guilty,” as he drove each man made nail,
Jesus cried,” Forgive them Father,” don’t let them go to Hell.
When Jesus was hanging on the cross did a bird fly by?
Do you think the bird might have stopped to ask the Creator why?
When Jesus hung His head and looked down,
Do you think a golden leaf might have drifted to the ground?
When He lifted His head to look to the sky,
Do you think a fluffy white cloud might have floated by?
When He was abandoned in that tomb so dark and cold,
Do you think bright sunlight shined in ever so bold?
When I look around at all the things man has done,
I know they are nothing compared to God sending His Son.
His creation is perfect in every way,
Man should spend more time looking up to pray.
He comes now to rest in the heart of all that call,
He will always hold us tightly never letting us fall.
He keeps us flying ever so high as His Spirit inside does soar;
He keeps His light shining each day in our hearts more and more.

THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

He's right beside me when I call.
He stands with me through it all.
If I need help I say His name.
Each day He loves me just the same.

When I mess up he say's it's ok.
When I get lost He shows me the way.
When I am sad He makes me smile.
When I am lonely He says I'll stay awhile.

I'm talking about my best friend.
He'll be with me until the end.
He stands strong for all who are weak.
Do you know this one of whom I speak?

Jesus Christ-the savior of us all-
Born so long ago in a cattle stall,
Call on Him this Christmas season,
You'll find He truly is the reason.

WINDOWS

Looking out my window Lord I see
Pain, suffering, confusion they surround me.
Much unhappiness in this world doth abound.
Unfulfilled people just seem to wonder around.

Looking out my window Lord I know-
You have the answer, you are in control.
This world we're in doesn't have a clue.
The unfulfilled people-all they need is you.

Looking out my window at my problems today -
I really need your guidance to show me the way,
With all the large ones and the small,
On all problems you make the final call.

Looking out my window Lord you need to change my view.
What I really need is to look up and see you.
If I will but ask you said you'd be near.
If I will but call you said you would hear.

Looking up through your window Lord today-
All my problems I see in a different way.
Help me now each day to always try,
To look up through heavenly windows past the sky.

GOD STEP INTO MY STORM

Some storms are but a small gust of wind.
Some storms can great turmoil send.
Some storms are mild and meek
Some storms devour all they seek.

God brings lightning ,thunder, rain-
God stops loneliness, confusion, pain.
God can end any storm at will-
God need only say "Peace be still".

I speak not of storms of rain and such-
I speak of storms with a deadly clutch.
I speak of storms from which you cannot hide.
I speak of storms churning deep down inside.

Man has no power over storms great or small-
Man has no power over much of anything at all.
Man can only look up and ask God to step in-
Man can only ask God's power over storms within.

Ask not for God to make your storm to cease.
Ask not for God to give you an easy release.
Ask God to step into your storm-give Him all control-
Ask God to speak His peace deep into your soul.

USE ME

Use me today Lord Jesus I pray.
Use me today to help someone along the way.
Use me today let your light shine through.
Use me today your work let me do.

Use me as I go to my job or school-
Use me as I try to be your tool.
Use me as I am driving home.
Use me as I am talking on the phone,

Use me with the little child next door.
Use me with the clerk at the grocery store.
Use me with those sitting in a waiting room.
Use me with those feeling only gloom.

Use me with my family around the table.
Use me with my neighbor-make me able.
Use me with the people I adore-
Use me with the people I try to ignore.

Use me fill me with your love.
Use me send your spirit from above.
Use me take myself away-
Use me put your holiness on display.

My Lord you've done so much for me.
My Lord you've made my blind eyes to see.
Such a great debt I will never repay-
My Lord all I can say is use me today.

I've been writing all my life. I used to write things that I know God would not be too proud of. Since I received the gift of the Holy Spirit, three years ago, I have started writing things that will, I hope, please my Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ. Here are some poems for you.

In Christ Jesus,

MIRACLES RIGHT ON TIME

I often pray for a miracle to appear,
I often don't even notice when it gets here.
Do miracles happen suddenly like a flash of light?
Do miracles happen slowly as day turning to night?

I ask, "Dear God, please give this or that".
I wonder why He doesn't answer at the drop of a hat.
Is God amused by the things I said?
Is God looking down, shaking His head?

I sincerely believe He knows my every need and want,
I know, He knows, what's best, even when I don't.
God, are you listening as for this miracle I pray?
God, do you still perform miracles even today?

In the Bible you parted the seas so quickly,
In those days you healed the lame and the sickly.
Father, can you still do miracles really fast?
Father, do miracles still happen like in the past?

Last year I asked for a thing or two,
Last month I had things I really needed you to do.
Did you hear me or did I waste my time?
Did you hear me and decide everything is just fine?

I am growing up a little prayer by prayer,
I am maturing and learning you are there.
Miracles don't always happen with a whistle and a bang.
You don't always look down and say, "You rang?".

You meet my needs daily and attend to my life,
You sometimes think it best I go through a little strife.
The healing I asked for was given long ago
I have to have the faith to accept that it is so.

That lost family member, I pray salvation for,
One day you will grant that and so much more.
I have to realize you don't work on my time table.
To perform every miracle, You are more than able.

The miracle I asked for was granted awhile ago.
I got so busy with my life, I didn't even know.
I am learning miracles have a way of sneaking in,
I see this more clearly now than I did then.

Yes, miracles come fast and miracles come slow.
Yes, a miracle's time is for only You to know.
Let me learn to pray, watch, and wait,
Let me know You never deliver miracles late.

EVEN IF

Even if I burn the beans,
Even if I can't iron your jeans,
Even if I say some things I shouldn't say.
Will you still love me anyway?

Even if I can't cook chicken right,
Even if I keep you up too late at night,
Even if I let a few tears start flowing,
Is your love for me still growing?

Even if I want you with me all the time,
Even if for me on a coke you spend your last dime,
Even if I forget to make your coffee,
Is there still love in your heart for me?

Even if I follow you around like a pup,
Even if I broke your favorite cup,
Even if your socks I don't know how to mend,
Please don't let your love for me end.

For even if your nails you bite,
Even if you talk to friends all night,
Even if you get mad at me and such,
I still love you just as much.

For the love we have is very strong,
Enough to last a lifetime long.
Even if you don't understand this poem or me,
Your loving wife forever I will be.

HE'S STILL WORKING ON ME

God called to me one day and I became His child,
Ever since that day I've been growing all the while.
It takes some time to grow and mature,
He's still working on me that's for sure.

I'm not the same person as I was before,
I find myself worth less and He is worth more.
I'm not the same person as I once was,
I've found a new meaning, a new cause.

Just when I think I know what He has called me to be,
A brand new calling He gives to me.
I do each small task with care and love,
As assignments are sent from above.

Sometimes I think I've surely reached His goal,
I think he just laughs and says, "Do as you're told".
Each time He calls me to something new,
I simply say, "whatever you'd have me do".

Jesus tells us His kingdom is very near.
We must do all we can while we are here,
To keep the world from drowning in a sea of sin.
There's always one more soul we might could win.

I push through the obstacles, the crowd, the mob,
I punch His clock, I'm on the job.
Each time I think I've made the day,
There's always one more prayer I can pray.

When people look at me and say, "You've changed",
I always tell them how this was arranged.
Jesus reached and rescued me with His hand.
Now for Him, I must do all I can.

I want to keep changing and growing more.
I never want to forget who I am changing for.
Ever since the day my Jesus set me free,
Ever since that day He's still working on me.

IN JESUS NAME

In Jesus name is such a simple little phrase,
We say it when we ask him to forgive our sinful ways.
We say it when we ask him to heal all our diseases.
We say it as we are baptized to obey and please Him

Sometimes I get on my knees in the middle of the day,
Sometimes I really dont know what I should pray.
I sit very still and ask what He would have me say,
I repeat in Jesus name, in Jesus name, the same way.

As I do, his peace falls over me.
Just that phrase seems to be,
All I need to get Him to look down .
I know He loves hearing that sound.

When I say in Jesus name I surrender all to Him.
I would never say this phrase just on a whim.
These three words are the quickest way I know of,
To take me straight into his arms of love

Prayer is not as complicated as some think,
Prayer is our life line, our precious link,
To God the Father, through Jesus the Son.
Through prayer we find His will is done.

In Jesus name, In Jesus name In Jesus name,
Try saying it over and over just the same.
A simple little phrase is such a tremendous thing.
A simple little phrase can make your soul sing.

Fall on your knees and pray sincerely,
Jesus will speak to you so clearly.
You will feel peace and contentment wash over you,
His spirit will direct just what you should do .

In Jesus name I pray today,
In Jesus name please show me the way,
In Jesus name please hear my prayer.
In Jesus name thanks for being there.

AN EASTER PRAYER

Lord, today as I cut the tags from my brand new dress,
Let me remember you were stripped more or less.
As I put on my hat that I just bought too,
Let me remember the crown of thorns they put on you.

Lord, as I put an earring on each ear,
Let me remember all the mocking you had to hear.
As I put on my best shoes to walk out my door,
Let me remember who your final steps were for.

Lord, as I struggle to make it to church for just an hour,
Let me remember how you gave up all glory and power.
As I think of getting home to egg hunts and cooking,
Let me remember as you hung, up to heaven you were looking.

Lord, on this happy day we call an Easter holiday,
Let me remember to take the time to pray.
As I think of you hanging on that tree,
Let me remember to say Father forgive me.

For you asked the Father to forgive those who did this to you,
A thousand angels you could have called to your rescue.
Let me remember you chose to hang on that cross for me.
You hanging on that cross forever let me see.

Crucified

C ruelity abounded that day long ago.

R eality fulfilled prophecy as your blood began to flow..

U nderneath a sky, that blackened about noon that day,

C hrist, you hanging high on that tree, had nothing to say.

I n all your pain and suffering you hung there ever brave.

F or you knew all of humanity you had to save.

I n your final moments you called to God above,

E nduring all this agony was the ultimate act of love.

D eclaring it is finished, you let your spirit soar,
You fulfilled every prophecy spoken long before.
